C&D's Pegasus is yet another from the master of classic American Burley blends, Bob Runowski. Three Burley tobaccos, two Virginias, and a touch of unsweetened Black Cavendish form a classic American blend, hearkening back to the days when Burley was king in American pipe tobacco blends.

There’s a website called Tobacco Reviews and if you track down Pegasus, Runowski talks at length about this blend…his creation. He goes so far as to suggest a deep narrow bowl as the ideal for smoking it. I’d tried it in the past with mixed feelings but after hearing what he had to say, I started all over. I grabbed a favorite Savinelli Spring 614 and loaded up using conventional packing technique and lit up…a charring light that I let die before a light swirling tamp and relight. I spent over an hour smoking it to the bottom and relit several times as I didn’t feel like hurrying through this delicious Burley blend. I concluded that I’d hit on the right combination and enjoyed several relights, each tastier than the last. I’ve been trying to find something that beat some old favorites like PA of which there are no substitutes…I’ve been a pipe smoker for over 50 years and have smoked more different blends than I can recall but always lean towards Burleys as I enjoy the depth of flavor and ease of smoking them…if you do it right, they don’t bite thus, Take your time…Pegasus showcases Runowskis knowledge of building a good blend and how to smoke it for best effect. A rich flavorful taste with depth and jus the right strength to satisfy. Splendid work by true Master Blender

This one is the blend where true art of Master Blender is demonstrated to all. I thoroughly enjoyed this blend though wouldn’t call myself Burley connoisseur.
Burley takes the main stage providing its usual nutty taste with a touch of bitterness, not unpleasant one I have to add. Virginias and Cavendish take the back stage providing some additional taste and sweetness while smoothing down typical Burley harshness rather well. Blend is exceptionally well balanced.
IMHO it tastes best in large briar pipes. I have especially enjoyed it in my extra-large Northern Briars Poker.

This is a great smoke. There's nothing that will grab your attention here. It's simple, honest tobacco. It burns cool, produces billows of smoke easily, and tastes good. An excellent beginner blend, a great all-dayer for anyone who likes the flavor of tobacco.
