About This Pipe Tobacco

An exceptionally smooth blend of Virginias and Burley, and the personal favorite blend of the late Danish pipe maker Peter Heeschen, Briar Fox is pressed into an old fashioned crumble cake, making it easy to prepare for whatever consistency you prefer. Would make a good everyday smoke. It’s very good at being natural and to the point. The burleys and Virginias balance very well. Good earthy body, sweet complexity to top it all off. Not my favorite, as I lean more towards richer blends. I think the hype is overplayed for sure, it’s just a no nonsense codger blend. Worth trying once with managed expectations....Read More

Great blend of Virginia and Burley. Straight up tobacco and how a non flavored tobacco should taste, like tobacco! Smokes well all the way to the bottom of the bowl.

I’m giving Briar Fox five stars within context. The context being all of C&D’s other bare bones, no frills, non aromatic, VA/Bur blends that they offer. Some of which I feel are under cased, at least for my mouth chemistry. The Virginias come in with tangy raisiny bread flavors, that the burley’s toasted nutty qualities then turn into a buttery toasted raisin bread. No way of me knowing what their casing recipe is, but it managed to steer the tobacco in that very toasted raisin bread direction that I described. I know that sounds like I could be describing many blends. It’s just that Briar Fox still maintains that bare bones straight forward tobacco flavored tobacco that C&D is known for, but with less of the rough edges. For example I would take Briar Fox over Pegasus any day....Read More
