Good stuff

I think I’ve finally found a C&D tobacco I would buy again and again. In my opinion it needs to dry just a bit before loading. Has a great English flavor with just a hint of fruity top note.
Love this blend, but not at first

It took me a bit to figure this blend out as it’s neither strictly an aro or English. At first I wasn’t a fan, but that’s because I think I was trying to place it in either camp rather than let it stand on its own.
After a couple months I’ve realize... Read More

Superb top note that really grows on you. You can smoke straight from tin but let it dry a bit and it really shines. Top notch smoke with a decent nic hit that comes on strong at the end.

On my trip to experiment with different blends and different tobaccos, gave this a try. Nice smoke.

This appeared moist in the tin, but it smoked so well, billowed out of my calabash. The perique is notable in on the palate. The nicotine builds so that by the end I was quite mellow. As far as the fruity nature, I’d suspect more of date than citrus... Read More

A different taste

Product: Cornell & Diehl Brigadier 2oz
I decided to try this because I liked most of the components of the blend. However, of all of these, I have never tried Perique and I thought something new would be interesting. On the tin, it was stated that the blend had a light fruit flavor. When... Read More
I opened the tin, I was greeted by an aroma the could best be described as fruit that was well past its' prime. I also found the mixture to be a bit over moist. None the less, I forged ahead and filled the bowl of a churchwarden and lit it up. I tasted the Latakia with what seemed to be a sharp underlying note I assumed was the Perique. Overall, this was a different taste but not unpleasant. In the background was a fruity note different from many of the aromatics I have tried in the past. I smoked the bowl about two thirds of the way down and then found that it seemed to be too moist. When I cleaned the pipe, I found a lot of unburned tobacco in the bottom that was quite wet. Overall, it was not a bad smoke but the next time I smoke this mixture, I will let it dry a bit first.
Drying it a bit does the trick. It now burns all the way down with a fine grey ash. Read Less
