pointed out that Night Train has a good amount of nicotine content, it's a blend that any seasoned tobacco smoker should be able to enjoy without being overwhelmed. It's not anywhere near as strong as C&D's Kajun Kake or Bayou Morning Flake. I gravitate toward mostly medium-strength blends, and I find this has just the right potency to be an "all-day" smoke, as it's not overwhelming in large quantities—at least not for me. This one goes in the category of "old timey" blends. There's no nonsense, no tricksy gimmicks, no fake flavors; it's just a great, expertly blended cake for the pipe. Night Train's room note will usually sit well with non-smokers' noses, and delight the pipers and smokers in your company. Additionally, aging this blend produces fantastic results. Finally, in the interest of fairness, I must admit that I'm a total Cornell & Diehl fanboy; I love their blends. For me, Night Train further cements C&D's reputation as my favorite blending house. I am ammending my review on this blend, it has grown on me and I am buying it in bulk later today. Its a really decent smoke, not too sweet and makes for a good all day smoke. I would definitely recommend it.

nd now this is a VaPer lover's delight. The balance between the elements is the best part of this blend. Now that the rough edges are gone, the sweet, hay and citrus of the VA takes center stage and forms the base, while the burley has learned its place, and provides depth and boldness , without biting or getting harsh. The perique has adopted the plummy , figgy characteristic, and provides great charachter to the balance. From my experience, lots of Vaper blends tend to over do the sweetness to balance out the perique, or to just mellow out the smoke. Night train has no detectable casings or toppings. To my palate, this is one has a very natural tobacco flavor.
So finally for the stars, I give it 3.5 stars fresh, and 5 stars after about 6months to a year of aging. Read Less

ngs...3 Stars is for those I found to be OK, but I am on the fence; on whether or not I would buy more of this. And 4 Stars is I will buy more to smoke from time to time. I cut the 1 lb brick into six squares. I put five squares in a 32 oz Mason jar, and applied but 5 inHg of vacuum with the Foodsaver Vacuum Sealer kit for jars. Enough vacuum to seal the Mason lid but still leave some air inside the jar for aging. The other one, square, I put in an 8 oz Mason and let it sit for a month. Today I sliced the single square into plugs; 3/8" to 1/2" thick. Ive had three bowls of it today and all I get is a high level of something of a tart citrus taste; after about the first quarter or third of the bowl. The first 1/4 to 1/3 of the bowl is just straight tobacco taste...and I like it. I have learned, in my short 1.5 months of piping, that I do get turned off when tobacco has an overpowering taste of citrus. As do all of the OTC/Codger blends I got, in 7oz tubs, that S.T.G. has acquired (Granger_Velvet_Paladin_SWR). I do hope S.T.G. never acquires Carter Hall. Right now I only hope the rest of the one square I'm working on, loses the majority of its citrus taste over time. I expect to know, when I do revisit the rest of this, 1 lb., in the years to come. Anyhow, for now, I did give it 3.0 Stars. Only because I do like the first 1/4 to 1/3 of the bowl. Otherwise it would've been a 2.5, or less, Star review from me. Read Less

Taste is medium to full and mostly consistent, with notes of mild lemon, sweet grass, dry earth, mild ripe fruit, toasted bread, bitter nuts, very peppery spices, tangy raisin, mildly floral and a very peppery retro. Perique is leading with support from burley. Virginias are kind of doing their own thing while along for the ride. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great. Read Less

epper (perique) and mellow herbs (Black Cavendish)—and bales of hay (Virginias). The tin note on this one carries a bourbonlike scent, and upon breaking apart the crumble cake within, to the eye there’s much bright Virginia to be seen.
This train is moving fast, powered by considerable shovels of nicotine into its oven. Its room note at its worst smells intermittently of cigarette smoke, but I find the flavor is more dominated by sweet Virginias than nutty burley or peppery perique. Not my favorite C&D blend, or the most flavorful, but surely a solid one worth trying, and reordering. 4.5 stars. Read Less

all a rather light tasting tobacco in my opinion. The addition of the Black Cavendish and Virginia mellow this one out and it's strong without being bold. Nice sweetness going on here with a pinch of pepper from the Perique and just a bit of nuttiness from the Burley. Very well balanced, and quickly becoming one of my favorite high nicotine blends when I need that extra oompf in my smoke. Read Less

Like title suggest this was first C&D blend for me, I've smoked it in 2017 and never looked back. That nutty burley and a hint of Perique bridged by Virginia and sweet black Cavendish. Easily bread and butter for anyone. It is crumble cake btw.
