About This Pipe Tobacco
Simple yet unique, heady yet versatile, elegant but still packing a whollop, we think you'll find this killer Virginia blend much as the settlers of the Old West found its namesake. Presented as a ready rubbed so it's quick to pack and smooth on the draw.

pine straw and smells of hay, honey, lemon grass.
Sampled in a MM Missouri Pride and then smoked in a Peterson Dracula 05.
Ok. As we get to the higher rated blends, we are going to more often encounter blends I already either know or have at least tried before.
Derringer is one I’ve not only tried , but rather think of as extremely undervalued and under discussed. I’ve referred to in in posts before both here and Reddit as the “poor man’s CRF”. Not because it’s identical but because it is consistant , dependable , very good, and more importantly - almost always available.
It has an excellent Virginia sweetness - almost honey like but not all the way (we’ll talk about that with Interlude) but for a straight Virginia it is a no bullshit good blend.
Do. Not. Push. This. Blend.
Let it smolder. Sip it, don’t gulp. Let it come to you. You’ll be rewarded for patience.
I already cellar this blend. I have, I believe, 9 or 10 tins , purchased over time to spread the age.
I’m in the fence when it come to aging Va of the advantage , where available , of keeping small , vacuum tight offerings versus larger jars. Maybe I need to get a lb and jar and try to remember in 5 years to compare.
Back to the issue at hand - 100% recommended, and totally would suggest “laying some back” regardless of I. You like tins or bulk.
My rating : 5

Light, subtle, grassy, mellow, floral... reminiscent of late spring on the west coast.
Decent Smoke, trustworthy, and true.

cco to shine through. The leaf quality is expected with C&D. I will be smoking plenty more. This is something I would take camping or on a trip where my selection is limited and I want something comfortable for all occasions. The room note is fine, nothing to write home about (as it isn't an aromatic).
As I progress in my smoking journey, I like to revist tobaccos. Now it is 6/2/25. I put this jar away for some time, let my palate develop, and learned some interesting techniques on how to get the most out of my tobacco. Now, I can say, this is being moved to a 3 star. That is by no means to say it is a bad tobacco, just a bit basic. It is good and can stand its own against the big guys, but with all of the available stuff these days, it doesn't stick out.
When I lit it, I immediately got some floral notes, which were refreshing on a hot summer day. It is rich in flavor, but not overwhelming. What hangs me up is the tiny bit of ash taste that I get. I need to really think hard to pick up on other notes once I get through about half a bowl.
Still, it's good to have in the cellar, I'd encourage you to pick up an ounce and try it, store it, try it later....Read More
good virginia with light casing

Great straight virginia with light sugar casing. I find it to be strong and straight-forward and smooth, with a bit more bright than red. Great straight virginia experience, the casing being a good complement and not overwhelming. Jeremy reeves is god.
