Pleasant Aromatic - Light and flavorful

A very pleasant aromatic, good balance of flavors for a very light aromatic. Definitely taste the blackberry and just a hint of vanitlla without being overpowering. In my fathers day (50-60's when he smoked pipe) was a fairly common style in Germany. Really enjoying this blend.

I was disappointed in this blend. It was like smoking air. There was little to no taste and the room note was minimal. I was looking for an Irish blend to add to my rotation but, I was disappointed. I’ll keep trying to find a good tasting aromatic Irish blend.

Like many of Dan Tobacco's aromatics, it's a very natural tasting mixture with the tobacco up front and mild. Differing from an American aromatic - the flavoring in Galway compliments rather than overpowers and hides the leaf. This one in their series has a soft vanilla and slightly sweet/tart blackberry nuance in the background. These meld very well with the grassy Virginia and the black cavendish smooths everything out to yield a sweet, smooth and mellow smoke with a great room note. Right after they ceased to produce this in bulk, I went online and found a pound of it. I placed it in my cart and just as I was about to checkout, someone else got it. Well, I went up to my tobacconist a week later and wouldn't you know it... there it was. They had bought the last pound. Only they were charging 5Xs the price and selling per oz. I've not purchased from them since. What are the odds? The nicotine in this is mild and comes in at 1.5 to 2 out of 5. It's not nicotine free like the American aromatics, which is why I really value and enjoy these Europeans aromatics; flavorful in a natural way with just a touch more nicotine....Read More

The virginias really sing in this one, with just the right amount of vanilla and blackberry. Lovely and smooth for a nice hot summer night.

Beautiful tin and interesting vanilla aroma. Herbal notes but a little bit lacking in taste.

I would not mind having another tin of this to age, but I did not find it one of my favorites. May be worth another try later. Found it a little lacking in taste.

I'll have to agree with Ian on this one. Bland. Sugar topping / casing too popular in this blend. A wonderful room note; rather an understatement. It does smell great. I did find it moist and to be an inconsistent burn. After tin opening it became more bland and the room note became less attractive. Yes, these reviews are subjective. Yes, this is an aromatic. Yes, if you were only using a rating based on room note, this one wins. But there is almost no tobacco flavour to be detected and it does have a tendency to burn hot (the sugars I guess), and again, for the purposes of wonderful aromas, this will please the neighbours......Read More

I tried this tobacco in my Peterson Outdoor series #124 pipe, a short nose warmer style pipe. Out of the tin the tobacco was not too moist and not too dry. I thought the taste of tobacco was decent but nothing really stood out to me. I could taste the hint of sweetness, but overall I would say the taste was bland. As with most aromatics, it did smoke a little wet but not enough to cause any gurgling to develop. The smoke was cool, even in a short stem pipe, and I puffed slowly to keep the heat down. It certainly wasn't an unpleasant smoke, but I wouldn't buy another tin....Read More

This is so good it should be illegal ! A wonderful room note and a really full tobacco taste, unlike many aromatics. This is traditional Irish at it's best.
