About This Pipe Tobacco
Now in its fourth generation of producing fine pipe tobaccos, the Stokkebye family tradition began with Erik Peter Stokkebye, born in 1855, and continues to this day with bespoke blends, many paying homage to important dates in their family history.
Comprising a combination of matured Virginias, vibrant Orientals, and Louisiana Perique from St. James Parish, Twilight Mixture stays true to its name by offering a complex and contemplative mixture of flavors both pleasantly sweet and provocatively dark. Manufactured by Cornell & Diehl, Twilight Mixture is lightly pressed before being sliced and rubbed out into a convenient cut.

As I smoked the tobacco, allowing the tobacco to open up, the complexity of the flavors began to present themselves. The forward flavor of the matured Virginias presented the essence of lemon zest, reminiscent of the citrus flavor of C&D's Sansapolcro. The perique added mild fruity notes, as well as, body with a strong presence of peppercorn.
In my opinion, Erik Stokkebye made the wise decision of adding Turkish leaf to compliment and round out the citrus flavors of the Virginias.
I really enjoy this blend. And, although I purchased it in the fall, I think I'll put it away until early summer when I can enjoy it on my patio with a Lemon Shandy....Read More

no dry time. Lights easily and stays lit well. For me the virginias sort of crowded out the oriental but not in a bad way. I want to say it’s C&D long cut perique by the smell (sour fishy gym socks) so if you prefer their more fruity granulated perique ymmv. One bowl in and I like it - I’m a sucker for orientals. This is a really easy smoke, moisture levels about perfect right out of the bag. It started off a little bland, but after a few months in a mason jar it smells like beef stew and is acquiring a nice sweetness.
