Tin note of fermented vegetation, dark dried fruit and spices. Tobacco is a ready rub of black and has and appearance of being sprayed/sprinkled with something white. Moisture content is great. A few larger pieces may need a little attention. Burns slow with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild to medium, with notes of licorice. Flavoring imparts a deeply sweet characteristic more prominent in the beginning than in the end but drops to the background around the 1/2-way point. Taste is medium and very consistent, with notes of tangy dark dried fruit, floral, toasted bread, spices, mild licorice, wood, sweet hay, earthy, sugar, zesty orange peel, fermented sour, tart citrus, savory, spicy/acidic, a deeply sweet raisin background note, and a peppery retro. The licorice just adds a sweetness. Rich, dark, deep virginia. Let it age and it gets covered in a white powder. Not cocaine, it's SUGAR!

Not a heavy aro

I'm mostly a non-aromatic smoker but recently I've been throwing more aros into my rotation and enjoying it. Also I'm not a huge stoved VA fan, but i do smoke it. When I open my jar of Blackpool I get a pleasant aroma of sweet dried dark fruits and the characteristic treacle. The licorice is rather subtle. I dry my aros out extensively and for Blackpool it took about 45 minute to an hour or until it becomes more brown than black. At this point it packs and smokes very well, and the flavor of dried fruit, stoved VA, and just a slight touch of licorice and treacle. It can burn a little hit if you aren't careful but I didn't have any tongue bite. Definitely an enjoyable middle of the road smoking experience that is in my estimation aimed more at lovers of stoved Virginia and aromatic smokers. Personally I find it similar to kingsbridge and I prefer kingsbridge a little more....Read More

I really don't have the words . Blackpool is as good as it gets ! Don't let the licorice throw you off as it's not a Licorice aromatic but just a slight top note . Exquisite is the only word that comes to mind .

I'm one of the few who prefers Ramsgate, as I find this to be a great smoke, but missing Ramsgate's punch of flavor. I pick up marzipan more than licorice, but there's an occassional whiff of it. The tobacco can frustrate you if you don't let it do some severe drying first. Don't even bother with it fresh out of the bag. Nonetheless, the taste it great....Read More
