About This Pipe Tobacco

Several varieties of Virginia tobaccos form the structure of G. L. Pease's Samarra blend. Smoky Cyprian Latakia, fine Turkish leaf, and just a bit of Perique are added for richness. The smoke is silky and round. A subtle, yet complex sweetness from the Virginias and just a little zest is present throughout the smoke, while layers of complexity tantalize the senses from first blush to the last puff.

This blend is a very mild tasting smoke that started off sweet and tangy with a hint of smoke. Shortly thereafter a slight peppery note from the oriental kicked in while loosing none of other flavors. This would be a good blend to introduce a new smoker to perique, latikia and oriental tobaccos as the flavors are there, but not too aggressively forward....Read More

Easy to smoke, lots of flavor, no tobacco overpowering one another. No wonder why this blend is 25 years strong and going. Flavor lasts to the bottom of the bowl without muddying up into a mess. Get a tin for now and then some for later.

I love a good va/per and this was recommended to me and it’s incredible. Virginias, perique with turkish and latakia, it goes beyond a va/per but the flavor and richness is one to be experienced. Tin note of smoky, mild spice, and mild tart fruit. The ribbon cut is brown, black and tan. Tobacco is moist but not dry, no prep or drying needed. Burns moderate with few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and mostly consistent, with notes of earth, bread, smoked wood, tart lemon grass, floral, musty dry herbs, mild raisins, mildly spicy, mild sweet hay background note, and a mild peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Latakia and the Oriental/Turkish supporting. Perique is bringing up the rear. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More
