About This Pipe Tobacco

Hans "Former" Nielsen began carving pipes in 1956 and has since become a legend of Danish pipe artistry with a worldwide following. In addition to his exquisite pipes, he's released his own line of pipe tobaccos — several of the blends fittingly named after briar's grain patterns.

Former's Private Flake features a mix of different Virginias from the United States, Africa, and India, plus Burley. The casing consists of several extracts such as fig-tree-fruit, tamarind, nut, truffle, apple syrup, and finally rounded with Irish top flavor.

This was my first dive into former product's and it wasn't bad at all I didn't think I was going to like it at first it was actually a mistake I thought I ordered cross grain flake but it's not an aromatic as it describes at least not to me it's pretty smooth no dry time needed it's pretty dry from the tin actually the honey notes I got and then the citrusy notes but it's not overwhelming it's a good clean tobacco burns nice tastes nice and I would buy it again and recommend it....Read More

Very nice tin notes,the toppings are mild and the natural aromas of the tobacco are very evident and the flakes are wonderful. Perfect amount of moisture,rubs and packs easily! Cool and slow burning with minimal relights. For those partial to European style aromatic VaBur mixtures, this is one to try. Decent tobacco, aroma is not too syrupy or medicinal. Compares favorably with Sillem's Red. Fruity, nutty, creamy.

I wouldn't call it an aromatic it leans more towards a Virginia flake tobbaco. I have ten tins that I ordered two at a time so I must have a liking to it.
