Mild and pleasant

A mild all day smoke. I’ll likely smoke it spring through early autumn. The Virginias come through strongest. Light grassy, mild floral sweetness.
The orientals add a nice supporting bouquet.
Moisture is on the slightly dry side. Definitely good to ... Read More
go right out of the tin without any need to let it sit before packing.
Probably best enjoyed by smokers who like straight Virginias. I’m looking forward to seeing how my other tins age over the next few years Read Less
Herbal, sweet, and complex

This feels like it’s in the same neighborhood as Bankside. The components are generally in the same neighborhood for quality and flavor. The red VAs are especially good in this first batch and react well to a flake cut. Reminds me of Carolina Red F... Read More
lake, which is a huge compliment and suggests a high sugar content. The orientals are more herbal and less acerbic than most. Think a floral gin with a sweeter tonic. IMO, this is best served by a flake cut in a narrower bowl. Read Less

Tin note of spices, dried fruit and grass/hay. Tobacco is a plug of marbled orangish tan, brown and dark brown. Moisture content is great. Recommend a sharp thin knife or razor to slice off some 1/8 inch flakes. Rubs out with a little force. Cubes ni... Read More
cely. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and very consistent, with notes of spices, fermented sour, floral, tart citrus, wood, peaty herbal vegetation, lemon grass, mildly savory, orange peel/zest, spicy, bread, semi-sweet dark dried fruit, a earthy and sweet hay background note, and a very peppery retro. Oriental/Turkish is leading with Virginia trying to keep up. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is good. Read Less

So smooth. Yes, it’s a little more work than most, but that’s what makes it different. I rec’d my first run today and smoked some of it. Convinced a third of the way through to buy another. Perfect spring/summer blend. Again, my opinion based on my t... Read More

Barcelona and Vermont in a tin

Product: G. L. Pease Géométrie 2oz
This one took a while to get to know. Very tart and bitter like rhubarb pie (hence Vermont in the title). However it also has a flavor profile of pecans and oddly barley? As a high school Spanish teacher by trade I'm instantly traveling to Barcelona,... Read More
Toledo, and Madrid due to the obvious cubist inspiration of works like that of Picasso's. Exceptional blend that once smoked enough develops into a malty flavor that reminds me of an old fashioned root beer. Definitely a tobacco that is for someone to delve into and explore it's complexity and nuance. Highly recommend! Read Less

Amazing. Love it! Tastes exactly as described. Rubbed out the first bowl. Smokes very well and cool. I literally just opened the shipping box. I'll be purchasing this one again. Instant VA Oriental favorite.
Another Zeitgest masterpiece

This is a masterful blend. GL Pease already has the pleasure of taking up a lot of my cellar space with Bankside, which is an all time favorite...
And now Zeitgest might be joining the ranks.

ed my palette, and that feature danced in and out of this blend throughout the bowl. Very delightful and elegant, not perfume-like by any means. In fact, this flavor is one I'm chasing in this blend. Just amazing.
Besides that, there's a certain zest from the virginias that I can only compare to a sun dried tomato (without an overly vegetal taste). Otherwise, the VA's are not that forward. In fact, I mostly noticed that classic figgy taste from the VA's in the aftertaste, rather than in the smoke itself.
The described malty notes are a good characteristic, and there's almost a sort of rustic bread taste (typing this doesn't sound appetizing, but I promise, I mean it in the best of ways).
Overall, this smoke can be characterized by having a consistent sweetness that is really enjoyable. It's more of a molasses flavor, if I can compare it to anything. Not sugary or overly sweet. Not artificial by any means. Really, really enjoyable. All the other characteristics intermingle with this at varying intervals, but that sweetness was easier to find in the fray than the rest.
I will say, there's a desire to really chug this bowl of tobacco since it's so good. But it rewards those who sip it. If you get burning too hot, a sort of acrid, grassy note can come out. Easy fix if you change your pace. But this is definitely a sipper.
Like a lot of Pease's blends I've tried, this is not one I'm smoking while working in the yard, fishing, or hiking. This is a thinking man's smoke. Put the phone down. Get rid of the distraction. Light it up, and sit with it. Trust me, it will reward you for being attentive like so.
This blend, besides those notes is still a bit elusive to me. But I'm keen on revisiting it many times, and discovering what else it has to offer. Read Less

Bavarian Rye Bread

A shining example of an overlooked type of blend...Virginias and Orientals. The virginias have a dry bread quality, and the orientals provide just the right amount of intrigue. It really reminded me of Bavarian rye bread. Regent's Flake has been a fa... Read More
vorite for a long time, and it has a richer, more oriental-forward flavor. geometrie is a bit more subtle, with the taste of bread at the front, supported by the zaftig quality of the orientals. Regent's Flake is an incense-filled bohemian cafe, while geometrie is a cheerful pub in the Bavarian countryside. Yet another masterpiece in the Zeitgeist series! Read Less
