Product: G. L. Pease Lagonda 2oz
Extremely good but hard for me to describe exactly why. At first it tasted like any excellent Balkan, but it developed into something so much more. The blender's aging process takes it to another level, and like a good whiskey it develops a wonderful character. This would not be my desert island smoke but it is definitely an addition to my rotation to keep things interesting. Will buy more....Read More

Product: G. L. Pease Lagonda 8oz
Tin note of red wine, smoke, and mild sweet fruit. Tobacco is a "stuck together thick ribbon" and is mostly dark brown with a little black and tan. Some pieces need rubbing out like broken flake. Moisture is good to go. Burns slow with a few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and consistent, with notes of sharp smoky, very woody, very earthy, moderately spicy, musty sour, floral, bready, mildly tart sweet background note, and a moderately peppery retro. Latakia barely beating the Orientals for the lead with Virginia supporting. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is outstanding....Read More

G.L. Pease blends always seem well thought out to me. Probably why I have pounds of it, and a cabinet dedicated to G.L. Pease blends now.
After an entire jar, this one has to bump a half star. It has excellent legs at the end. I smoke this at night watching my original star trek dvd's. Goes well with the space hotties from 66-69. Enjoy yourselves....Read More

Product: G. L. Pease Lagonda 8oz
My normal rotation consists of heavy Latakia blends like Gas Light, Pirate Kake etc. However, this blend, while having a heavy dose of Latakia, comes across with a terrific flavor from the Virginias and Orientals. They cut through the Latakia to create a well balanced and very flavorful smoke. The noticeable thing about this blend is that the latakia does not leave that heavy and sometimes oily taste in your mouth. Gas light smokers will understand what I am talking about. For me, this is a very welcome addition that fills a void in my rotation....Read More

I ordered this blend not prepared for it to become one of my favorites. It starts off light and a bit spicy, then gradually becomes richer and smokier. I have found that this performs even better when re-lighting. I will smoke about a 3rd and set the pipe down to cool completely. When you come back you are greeted with this savory, crispy chared brisket flavor that fades out into a nice, mesquite type smokiness. Repeat as necessary. It is mostly dry with a hint of sweetness that comes though here and there. Spice will also duck in and out during the smoke. I like the complexity and will be buying again, and a few for the cellar....Read More

I still prefer quiet nights or odyssey over Lagonda, but I still very much enjoyed it. More spice than smoke on the flavor, but the Latakia is very much present, just enough so it does not take over any other leaves. If quiet nights was a little to strong or Latakia dominant for you, give this one a try...Read More

Lagonda is amazing. It’s got a huge flavor profile without being overbearing. The tin note smells beautifully smokey and rich. One of the best tin notes of any tobacco I’ve ever smelled. The pressing and fermentation process gives the whole tin a very dark color from where the oils from all the leaves have saturated each other. Delicious Latakia really shines through every other leaf in this blend. Right up there with Quiet Nights in my opinion as the best two Pease tobacco’s. If you love Latakia this is the one for you....Read More

Can was packed on 02/20/19. Some say to "age" this a little and also to dry it out somewhat before smoking. However, I just had to have a bowl as it was my first taste of Lagonda. The big factor was the Latakia that was not as predominant in the blend. Some say for (2) years now that it is coming from Lebanon, not Cyprus. There is zero coming from Syria. Perhaps the Latakia was not processed in the traditional manner. It's a pretty long process. On opening the tin, it gave off an "English" scent, but not the usual bold aroma. We have been informed that Cyprian Latakia is being processed currently. The past (2) years, Lebanon has provided a lot of Latakia. I did notice that I still have the taste of the pipeful hours afterwards. It's milder than Balkan Saseini. I'll be fair, and give it more time to age and maybe that will do the trick. Pease puts stickers on the bottom of each can noting the pack date. Wonder how long to age this? Any advice is welcome....Read More
