G. L. Pease: Lagonda 8oz Pipe Tobacco
Product Number: 003-029-0079
Lagonda, from G. L. Pease, is a luxurious blend comprising generous portions of Cyprus Latakia, ripe red Virginias, and fine oriental leaf, with a bit of bright added for a hint of subtle sweetness. Pressing and aging in cakes integrates the flavours and partially ferments the tobaccos. The cakes are then sliced and tumbled into ribbons, ready for your enjoyment.

Brilliant, for watching the early winter sunset

on with the Latakia. The smoke is rich and can get dense yet stays relatively cool. This for me feels very similar to Maltese Falcon with a little less of that ginger type spice and a little more orange pith and peel kinda thing. It was perfect to pack and get going right out of the tin. I think a late afternoon, or watching one of these 5:30pm winter sunsets is the perfect placement for this blend. If you’re a fan of blowing smoke rings this is a great blend to work with as well. It can get a tad bitter and wake up the back of my tongue a little due to how much volume of smoke I’ve been able to pull with moderate but consistent puffing. Drinking a Coca Cola Classic and eating a few Whoppers (malted milk balls, not the burger) with this has also been top notch ;)....Read More

. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and consistent, with notes of sharp smoky, very woody, very earthy, moderately spicy, musty sour, floral, bready, mildly tart sweet background note, and a moderately peppery retro. Latakia barely beating the Orientals for the lead with Virginia supporting. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is outstanding....Read More

oticeable thing about this blend is that the latakia does not leave that heavy and sometimes oily taste in your mouth. Gas light smokers will understand what I am talking about. For me, this is a very welcome addition that fills a void in my rotation....Read More

you are greeted with this savory, crispy chared brisket flavor that fades out into a nice, mesquite type smokiness. Repeat as necessary. It is mostly dry with a hint of sweetness that comes though here and there. Spice will also duck in and out during the smoke. I like the complexity and will be buying again, and a few for the cellar....Read More

Smoky, lightly sweet, full, and a touch creamy.
There is a lot going on flavour wise with this gem of a blend, find new flavours with each bowl.

Mild "English" Blend

coming from Lebanon, not Cyprus. There is zero coming from Syria. Perhaps the Latakia was not processed in the traditional manner. It's a pretty long process. On opening the tin, it gave off an "English" scent, but not the usual bold aroma. We have been informed that Cyprian Latakia is being processed currently. The past (2) years, Lebanon has provided a lot of Latakia. I did notice that I still have the taste of the pipeful hours afterwards. It's milder than Balkan Saseini. I'll be fair, and give it more time to age and maybe that will do the trick. Pease puts stickers on the bottom of each can noting the pack date. Wonder how long to age this? Any advice is welcome....Read More
