Though well-known today for the pipes offered under the Rattray's name, this marque got its start as a blender, for a blender of fine tobaccos was in fact Charles Rattray's own profession in 1903 when he purchased what was to become the first Rattray's shop in Perth, Scotland. As with Charles a hundred years ago, today Rattray's the brand is distinguished by unique specialties, like the red Virginia, Latakia, and Oriental-heavy Red Rapparee, or the dark, delicious Marlin Flake.
