I was looking into full body mixtures for a friend, and happen to try this, made it halfway through the bowl and went to pet my cat, that was sitting on my lap. Just to wind up petting my leg instead of my cat. If this was fruity, which it is not, I... Read More

I must be honest here, I'm only on my first tin of this wonderful tobacco. It will not be my last. I fell in love with Black Mallory from my first bowl. One of my all-time favorite blends is Butera's Pelican, and this is the closest thing I've found.... Read More
While not identical, Black Mallory has much of what I love about Pelican. It is a smooth, somewhat stronger than average Balkan style blend with a sultry aroma and taste. And, while Black Mallory isn't always easy to find, it's easier than Pelican by far. If I'm not mistaken Black Mallory has been around much longer too and seems to be a fan favorite of the Rattray's line going way back. The blend came with perfect moisture and there was noticeable suction release to the lid upon opening. I doubt my tin was very old though since the tin sports new artwork (not as pictured). But, it taste like it's mellowed from age. It is so easy to smoke I find myself getting lost in its richness. No bite, no sharpness, no adjustments necessary... it agreed with me in every way as if smoking a life-long favorite blend. The Latakia is upfront and balanced perfectly with the Orientals. The smokey Latakia is both rich and mellow, not at all over done, but definitely stronger than you'd expect. The Orientals come across as creamy and incense-like without any annoying perfume chemical twinge. This IS the definition of “balanced blend”. Every component is supporting the others and is a relevant and crucial element. Any one component is hard to find, but the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Fans of Latakia mixtures and Oriental blends should try Black Mallory for sure. Luckily, it still manages to fly under the radar so-to-speak. It's an old classic, but enjoys a slight niche anonymity. Enjoy. Read Less

Sweeter than Red Rap.
Smoky, and leathery like Red Rap.
It’s Red Rap, with the added sweeter Virginia.
Hits the right spots.
Nice English, good flavor

A good English blend slightly Oriental forward not too much Latakia but noticeable. The strength rating is about medium.

Way too much cavendish. This has a 'hollow' like body as the proportion of cavendish is much too high. Too one-dimensional; cavendish and Latakia. The Black Cavendish delivers some artificial sweetness. When pushed it can have a remarkably thin and ... Read More
paper-like flavor. The Latakia is moderate with more emphasis on the Black Cavendish. VERY similar to Peterson's MM965, but sweeter (artificially). Cornell & Diehl’s Constellation is also similar, but Black Mallory has less Latakia, and more cavendish and is much sweeter than Constellation due to the addition of invert sugar. Constellation is deeper in flavor. I still prefer Constellation however, as the Orientals clash with my PH and C&D manufacturers a much more pure product. Read Less

Product: Rattray's Black Mallory 100g
This is very interesting. I would say that the addition of Black Cavendish gives this English an interesting licorice type flavor to it. I love that smokey licorice when the Latakia and Cavendish marry in the can. It's a pretty great one.

Very good, very different. So refreshing to take a break from the G.L.Pease/Drucquer/C&D=Laudisi monopoly. Relatively full bodied without coating the tongue and palate. Smoky and spicy, sour, and also very sweet without a cloying, fake taffy topping.... Read More
Also, the antimicrobial used by all of Laudisi's companies seems delightfully lesser in quantity if not entirely absent here. Read Less

燃烧好,斗温低,尼古丁强度中等偏强,没什么丰富的口感,主打一个清淡简单。淡淡的奶味,淡淡的烟熏味,淡淡的甜味,一切是那么的恰到好处让你很难不喜欢上它
awesome!

Tin note of mildly sweet smoky. Tobacco is black, light brown and dark brown Ribbon cut. Moisture content is ok, some may need to dry it a bit. Burns slow with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste... Read More
is mild to medium and somewhat consistent, with complex notes of wood, floral, smoky, sugar, leather, toast, spice, lemon zest, herbal, sugary savory, buttery, smooth, dry earth, mildly acidic/spicy, mild incense, a mildly tangy citrus, background note, and a mild peppery retro. Latakia is barely beating Virginias for the lead with Cavendish and Oriental/Turkish providing excellent support. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great. Read Less
Great classic Latakia blend

Product: Rattray's Black Mallory 50g
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite Latakia blends. Now I need to try Red Rapparee as I’ve been enjoying oriental forward Lat blends lately. Something tells me that Black Mallory and Red Rapparee would be good mixed 50/50.

I just found a 15 year old tin of this stuff at a local tobacconist. Holy smokes, this stuff is so silky and full bodies in the mouth, and so full of nuanced flavor I am blown away! Had some Penzance recently that was around 10 years old, and this st... Read More
uff is similar in it’s aged characteristics. The cavendish has fallen way back and acts now more like a flavor bonding and enhancing element. The Latakia And orientals now have married into a leathery, floral, slightly sweet-spicy smokiness, and the aged Virginia has the molasses/catsup vinegar sweetness to fill out the base of this amazing flavor profile. I think the store had one more of these old tins I’m gonna scoop it up for sure! I can’t vouch for this blend when new, but well aged it is sublime! Read Less

addition of Black Cavendish! I knew there must be a common thread here, so I looked more closely at other favorites in my rotation. Again, B. Cavendish. It just seems to mellow-out the smoke and adds a bit more body, less tongue bite, cooler burn and a pleasant subtle "sweetness", but not a "sweet" blend by any means. This is a nicely balanced tobacco with another favorite added in the form of Latakia. And, of course VA's as well... This is a top-notch tobacco that you should try and prepare to be pleasantly surprised! Not an ARO by any means, but a nice bouncing-board blend for those wanting to stray from the ARO's a bit... mething that wasn't there.
When opened, the smoker is greeted by a beautiful colors and aroma's . There seems to be just a bit of sweetness I believe from the red Virginia's. or the playfulness of the Orientals. The Latakia is by no means over whelming but more that enough to pleases us "Lat. Heads" It is a smooth and silky never harsh. I would recommend if a soft evening blend is to your liking, I lucked out, this a fine tobacco will order again without hesitation, Read Less
