Samuel Gawith: Winter Time Flake 50g Pipe Tobacco

I got my hand on a 9-year old tin of this Flake and the flavor of Virginias have married and embraced that of the Latakias as wholly as might cousins in Arkansas.

The quality of the leaf is obviously there, but a limited one note flavor profile(latakia). You will get a good smoke out of it, but there are similar/better - more complex blends out there than this

This is a really nice slow-burning Flake with an excellent balance between the sweet Virginias and the smokiness of the latakia. I find it at its best when rubbed out. As the others have said, just a bit on the moist side out of the tin so it does benefit from a little drying time.

Best of the four seasons blends by far, and an excellent, sweet English. I smoke a great deal of this.

This is my second experience with a Gawith flake. (The first was Navy Flake. We need not speak of it further.) This flake is extremely flavorful and well behaved. The moisture content in the tin is on the dry side (for SG). I rub the flakes out and let it dry for 15 mins or so and load the pipe. It lights easy and stays lit. I don't know what the percentages of lat to VA are, but the latakia seems dominant and that's fine with me, I love the stuff. You get a nice noticeable sweetness from the VA. 단맛이 강하다. 순수버지니아의 단맛을 넘어선다. 아마도 가당의 효과로 보인다. 사무용가위 제품과 다르게 불유지가 좋다. 꼬릿한 라타키아향이 과하지 않고 좋다. 휼륭한 잉글리쉬 연초다. 추천.
