About This Pipe Tobacco
Captain James Earle first took to sea at age 12, embarking on a life-long passion that saw him ascend to the rank of Master of the Charles W. Morgan, the last of the wooden whaling ships, currently docked in Mystic, Connecticut. Manufactured by Cornell & Diehl, Captain Earle's pipe tobaccos pay tribute to his legacy, each blend in the series alluding to an important time in his life.
Captain Earle's Reflections is a complete and complex blend of 12 premier tobaccos. Pressed with rich stoved Red Virginia, Orientals, Black Cavendish, and a slow-burning, smooth Latakia, Reflections is a crumble cake blended to showcase the nuances of English mixtures, sailing smokers away to a time and place of relaxation and reflection.

ing, this one is amazing. After smoking more than half of the cake, I broke it up and shoved it in a jar to age, as this blend has a lot of Virginia in it.

ee Earle's blends, but just one tin of 'Reflections.' So I looked at the star-ratings and saw Reflections was the lowest rated of the four I have. I then found the tin and noticed it's dated June 2022; one month shy of two years old. So I popped its lid and broke apart the cake. When I lit it up...I was really enjoying it. I found this balanced, smooth, and well-behaved as far as burning goes. But I'd say the flavor is a bit TOO balanced - it's so very even that nothing stands out. It's not at all bad, but it's not particularly great either.
