end out there by a wide margin. There is plenty of Latakia for the Latakia lover, but the addition of orientals as condiments here are what really set this tobacco apart as superbly tasty. I normally rotate through perhaps 35 different tobaccos, with about a dozen favorites. This is now my number one, something I have never had in forty plus years of pipe smoking. Taste is medium to full and consistent, with notes of smoky, wood, floral, leather, spices, lemon grass, toasted bread, herbal incense, earth, musty vegetation, tangy citrus, orange peel/zest, spicy/acidic, a savory stewed sweet fruit background note, and a peppery retro. the latakia coats the tongue but only until another blush of semi sweet citrus appears.
A bit of gooey buttercake hints on the edges.
Unsweetened oatmeal cookie after a semi sweet orange candy while standing next to a sweet smokey campfire.
The “krumble plug” is dense, more so than average. burns cool with some relights, power level is a tic or so under medium.
Recommend to all Enthusiasts and newcomer ready to try a stronger blend without worry. Read Less

contributes a little sweetness that comes and goes as one enjoys the blend. I don't discount the Virginia, though. The sweetness is a pleasant background for the Orientals's spice. All in all, the good Captain's stimulus package offers one of the most pleasant smokes I have had this year and last year, and I hope to go on enjoying it for a good while. I don't much care whether it is called an English blend or a Latakia blend. Power to the taste! It's a perfect rose wreath for all of Captain Earle's good offerings, and my personal favourite. Perfect ratios with latakia very forward and orientals following. Virginia adds bready notes, hay, and a little sweetness. Prep is a breeze with the crumble cake, but it makes for a faster and hotter burn. Flavor profile is a very classic Americanesque English blend. What pleases me perhaps the most is that they took it easy on the antifungal treatment in July 2021, at least in this tin. As Crazy Schnauzer says, it's like a Lite version of Ten Russians. I concur. If you are a fan of full flavored Latakia blends, this should be on the short list. It just doesn't get any better than this. This is a real gem. Tastes great all the way down and I especially enjoy the last third the subtle complexity gets deeper.
