No, nope, not gonna do it again. This blend sounded great, but once I smoked a bowl and then another, I just couldn't anymore. It lacks everything. I'm giving it a generous 2 stars, because it was bad, but not bad enough to try a 2nd bowl.

fizzles in the first 1/4, then the apricots fizzle out around the 1/2-way point. Taste is mild to medium and consistent, with notes of marshmallow, toast, wood, spice, bread, dry, fermented vegetation, molasses, cocoa, creamy, nuts, brown sugar, floral, fermented, peaty, a grassy background note, and a mostly smooth retro. Fantastic beginner smoke

excellent tobacco that I was able to meet and bond with one of my best friends, and we have remained fast friends since. It has been about a decade since I had my last pipe of anything, so I thought to myself that, now that I'm taking up the hobby again in my thirties, I ought to try my historic go-to blend again. I was not disappointed.
This tobacco has such a unique charisma about it, and I think that can largely be attributed to its smell. Fresh out of the tin, the smell of Stanwell Melange simply cannot be beat. It is likely among the best smelling aromatics around. Women absolutely love the smell of this tobacco, and it's likely your old man or guy friends won't mind it either because it smells like momma's peach pie. Needless to say, the room-note is fantastic, and I haven't met a person on Earth who dislikes it.
The taste is also quite good. I imagine this is what's more important for most people than the smell, but both matter for aromatics. Note that I have to rate the taste lower than the smell, because the smell is just so damn good, but the taste is also very pleasant. It's subtle, and not overwhelming in the slightest. The Stanwell mixture rolls right off the tounge, finishing with the slightest taste of apricot. Considering the strength of the tin's smell, I imagine many will be caught off-guard by just what a subtle-tasting tobacco this really is most of the time.
Now, I want you to pay attention to that word: Most. Most of the time, the taste is subtle, but sometimes you just get the perfect puff, and you get a ton of great flavor. That's the real treat in this tobacco. Once every few puffs, you get a ton of flavor. The reason I don't rate it that way, however, is because I'm not such an experienced smoker that I can make this wonderful taste appear consistently. It seems like the tobacco prefers to be smoked by the mouthful, and slightly warm.
Things to be careful of: As with all things in life, this tobacco is not perfect. For one thing, it is moist. Nothing wrong with that, and this is probably a good thing in the long run. That said, you can expect some amount of liquid to make its way up your stem if your smoking posture/ puff timing is less than perfect. This liquid creates an unfortunate sound when smoking and tastes pretty awful if you get it in your mouth. For some people, I think this could turn them off to the blend altogether, but I promise that it's worth troubleshooting through this issue. Some people advise to smoke it slower, and to air it out before smoking it so that it dries a bit. I like smoking fast, and out of the tin, so I'm really the kind of person who gets punished by this.
All in all, a fantastic smoke, and completely affordable to boot. I think I'll be smoking this until I'm dead....Read More
