About This Pipe Tobacco

Made in Italy from fermented American and Italian Dark-Fired Kentucky tobaccos, Toscano cigars are referred to as dry cigars or "cheroots." Came for the DFK, left because of the Lat

I'll be the first to admit I'm very picky about Latakia blends. As someone else pointed out, Latakia is starting to be put into everything and reminds me of the cranberry craze in the early 2000s where cranberry flavors started popping up in places I'd rather they hadn't. 
 This does not have a *hint* of Latakia. It is a very obvious amount that really ruins what could have been a fantastic blend. The DFK is actually quite tasty in this but it is monstrously overshadowed by the Latakia. I dont normally give up on a tin, but this one made me throw in the towel halfway through. I even tried some of my own blends such as adding a bit of cigar leaf to one small offering and even adding in some CnD vanilla to another. I played with humidity levels for all of them and in the end, all my efforts only made it SLIGHTLY more tolerable. I don't usually smoke English tobacco, and when I read 'Latakia', I take three steps back. But here, I take three steps forward. This tobacco is really awesome! Firstly, I've never seen a C&D tin so full. Secondly, the smell: at first, I thought it was just another English-style mix like the others I've had before, but I was so wrong. Thirdly, the taste of the tobacco. Is it aromatic or non-aromatic? If you puff your pipe quickly, then it's non-aromatic, but if you take your time, you'll taste the sweetness of this tobacco. It will tingle around your lips and tongue, and you will definitely taste it because it is there - the sweetness of caramel, vanilla and maple! What an amazing tobacco this is! but only when you give yourself the time to enjoy it. For me this tobacco in a briar pipe was and is just perfect. This is an all day tobacco and I am happy that I bought it. Definitely this is a recommended tobacco for all pipe smokers !!!...Read More

This whole line turns out to be really fantastic! This one gave me pause when it was described as tasting of vanilla, caramel and maple. In the past, English Aromatic crossover blends have disappointed me. This is NOT an aromatic blend. What it really is, is DELICIOUS! Rich, full flavors. Not a Latakia ladden classic English and not a Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity aromatic either. I may be missing something but I did not detect any vanilla or caramel or maple. It's just complex, sophisticated and GREAT! Trust me. Try it! And buy multiple tins of each of these. They should age beautifully....Read More
