About This Pipe Tobacco

Made in Italy from fermented American and Italian Dark-Fired Kentucky tobaccos, Toscano cigars are referred to as dry cigars or "cheroots." Toscanos possess a distinct, robust flavor that is favored by countless cigars smokers, and now pipe smokers can enjoy the famous boldness of Toscano cigars as well. In collaboration with Cornell & Diehl, Toscano presents the Maestro series, a series of pipe tobaccos that capture and recontextualize the piquant profiles of Toscano cigars. Toscano's Maestro Sinfonia is a flake-cut English blend that consists of Dark-Fired leaf sourced from Kentucky and Tennessee, stoved Red Virginias, and smoky Latakia. Sinfonia showcases Toscano's signature bold and spicy flavor, which is accentuated by intense, roasted notes and subtle, lingering tanginess.

An orchestral melodious symphonies in the bowl!
It’s fascinating to experience how all of the components melds together in a harmonious way.

Dark, Bold, and You Know You’re Smoking Something Special

I’m an old guy, but new to pipe smoking. Abandoned cigarettes 12 years ago, after smoking for 40 years, and gravitated to nasal snuff. In that realm, dark Rappee became a favorite of mine, so it might not be surprising that I’m finding Latakia to be my preference among pipe tobaccos. From the first bowl of Sinfonia, I knew I’d found a blend I’ll be smoking regularly. Rather than trying to describe the experience in terms of flavors, hints of this, and notes of that (I’m far from qualified), I’ll say this: This is a tobacco that you know you’re smoking. It’s not something I’d stuff in a pipe while chatting with friends, or while doing things. At the risk of being cheesy, it’s a contemplative, somber, rich experience that I absolutely love. It’s smoky, bold, and yet smooth, with a good nic hit, and with just a little drying time, it burns beautifully with no fussing. I'm not generally a fan of Latakia blends. I mean, every once in a while I love to smoke one, but they're mostly interchangeable for me, never really been able to find one that stood out from the crowd, until this. Dark fired is my favorite category of tobacco, and the Latakia doesn't completely overtake the dark fired as it does for me with Orientals and Virginias. The Latakia adds a unique smokiness on top of the dark fired smokiness already present, neither one gets lost. One of my favorites....Read More

An excellent blend, it packs and lights easy. There is a touch more Latakia than I would prefer, but it’s just shy of being a “English” mixture, and remains just unobtrusive enough to overlay the other flavors with a truly delicious smoky taste. Similar to Bankside by GL Pease, but with that Italian Kentucky flair that adds a wonderful smoky floral pop. Enough with the endless Latakia blends. I saw Jeremy Reeves and trusted that it was not another Latakia festival. Look how does Latakia not overpower and ruin most perfect blends. No wonder it was on sale. Feel pretty ripped off. And I read descriptions. Wouldn't have bothered if it was in the description. If you love Latakia you'll love another one of these Oh we made too much Latakia crap and now we gotta find a way sell it in 12 different tins. Not happy....Read More
