About This Pipe Tobacco

Warped's limited-edition, Halloween-themed release, Scarecrow combines proprietary Red Virginia Cavendish — a rich, naturally sweet variety crafted from deep 2017 Reds and 2019 Orange-Red flue-cured leaf — with 2014 White Burley and vintage Dark air-cured leaf, yielding notes of malty chocolate and warming spices. Subtle top notes of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel enhance and complement the natural tobacco character of these select components, and the entire mixture is pressed for days before being sliced into old-fashioned crumble cakes, further marrying the flavors and enhancing its aging potential.

Excellent Fall/Halloween Tobacco

What better way to ring in the fall season and the upcoming Halloween holiday than smoking some Warped. Moisture content is perfect and only requires an average number of relights. And it really does smell and taste like candy corn!

An Excellent Aromatic

Upon opening, the tin note is overpoweringly sweet. Definitely not a “subtle top note”. Those flavors are strong during the first few minutes but then start to settle in nicely. Most aromatics disappoint me when the topping fades, but this does the exact opposite. A magical synergy forms with the toppings when the Virginia’s start to shine through and it is glorious. This blend is absolutely delicious. The plug easily chunks apart with your fingers and with minimal force it rubs out into a pillowy soft pile of tobacco. I dried it for about 10 minutes but it could use a little more, though the topping might dissipate a bit. I could see getting burned out if you smoked a ton of it, but I immediately wanted another bowl when the first one was finished. Highly recommended....Read More

I received my order yesterday and promptly opened a tin to jar. Initial aromas were of chocolate and faint caramel and of course, tobacco. As I pulled apart the cake the chocolate note turned into a sweeter dark chocolate with the caramel a little more pronounced and the tobacco still in the mix. The overall aroma is absolutely decadent. With the cake fully rubbed out, I put it in the jar and loaded a small bowl before sealing the lid. I made my way to the patio and proceeded to light and smoke. I wondered how these aromas would transfer through the smoking process. I was not disappointed. The chocolate and caramel notes came through with the chocolate at the forefront of the two with some vanilla in the background. The tobacco really shined through, especially the burley (not surprisingly), and the entire medley played in unison with one another. The burley added an almost cigar like taste and aroma and also added a spice that was most pleasing (it reminded me slightly of the Belgian Chocolate cigarettes produced by Nat Sherman back in the day). The spice could be felt in the nostrils but the retrohale was very smooth. This is an intoxicating and most enjoyable smoke. It is not nearly as sweet as Autumn Evening and that’s not a bad thing. The character of this tobacco is wonderful and in my opinion is a blend on the verge of perfection. I’ll say right off I’m not a fan of candy corn, and that’s what I’ve been hearing about this blend. The artwork on the tin is fantastic, and took me back to past spooky seasons in Michigan. When I opened the tin, not only did I smell this sweet, candied-like aroma, but also citrus, and caramel. The topping is subtle, and does not overpower the tobaccos. I thought this would need a little time to dry, but it burned just fine with a white ash cap. This is also a blend the wife actually likes, and doesn’t mind if I smoke it in the house. This blend is so good! Its perfect for the holiday season. Aromas of candy corn and caramel apples, that slightly add to the taste too but very subtlety. The rest of the flavor is great too, with a smooth and creamy smoke. My tin was pretty moist so im letting my bowls dry out for about 10 minutes beforehand but other than that I'd have to say this stuff is absolutely amazing....Read More
