Wonderful surprise

Product: Drucquer & Sons The Devil's Own 100g
This is one of mine and my father's favorites. It has a destinct, strong taste, with a surprisingly sweet tone with it. I really enjoy it, and we intend to keep it around.
I would recommend jarring it though. It starts out dry, and will quickly dry... Read More

I get alot of Hay&Wood out of this blend. Still quality tobacco, but just not to my personal tastes. My favorite part of this is the last 1/3 of the bowl where the richness finally comes through & you get a bit more sweetness/nutty flavors
Slightly Miclassed, but Wonderful

Ima smoking my way through all of the GL Pease Blends, including the Dreuqer & Sons blends. This blend is a mild Latika ,Burely, and cavendish blends. I would not necessarily classify as an English blend as the Burley flavor and difficult to des... Read More

I Get It (Sir Henry Irving)

Product: Drucquer & Sons The Devil's Own 100g
My tin has age on it, so I don't know how much better it might be than a fresh one. What I enjoy most about this blend is its relative simplicity, considering the components and the categorization of the blend. It's mostly Virginia with the flavors o... Read More
f the other components playing off the Virginia. Sometimes simpler is more special for me.
This is a sweet, wine-like, and bready, woodsy blend with little cocoa, smoke and leather notes that weave in and out of a Virginia experience. It's thoroughly enjoyable. It is easy to get this to burn hot and harsh-tasting. However, this blend burns very well, and slowly if done right. Give it a go. I can see some others enjoying it, as I do, and it is an all-day kind of smoke. Read Less

When I first opened this tin I just didn’t care for it. So into a jar it went and sat for 6 months. Now I find it more congenial. The pipe starts out with a smooth white chocolate kindof flavover. Then about halfway down it become more nutty and p... Read More

ring detected. Taste is medium and somewhat consistent, with notes of floral, tart fruit, very spicy, very woody, musty hay, lemon zest, very acidic, orange peel, dry, molasses, tangy citrus, spices, toast, bitter, grassy, sugar, a sour fermented vegetation background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Burley and Cavendish supporting. Latakia supporting from the sidelines. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is good. Read Less

As a Tobacco Enthusiast i always enjoy a blend with a history or good story behind it so it was natural to try this blend.

king a slight tingle on the tongue.
Power level is a tick under medium and does not match the intensity of the flavors.
The quality of the tobaccos keep this blend from being too rough but for me personally I find the blend unbalanced which GLP does have a few blends I find to be that way.
Recommend to all Enthusiasts and newcomers for the historical implications Read Less

Product: Drucquer & Sons The Devil's Own 100g
It seems to be more of a Virginia blend with a dash of Latakia. It is sweet and Citrusy, a little tangy but also a little earthy as you progress through the bowl.
Yes the Latakia is still present, but is not in a prominent role. I'm kinda torn betwee... Read More

I found this one to be a nice mild English. Nothing really jumped out at me, but nothing struck me as awful either. A little more latakia would be nice but is not a deal breaker.

@Alan thanks for the review. I thought I should mention that, according to Greg Pease, Drucquers tins were never vacuum packed. He states that the shop didn't have the facility to do it, nor did he ever see such a pump on site.

w goes, I've tasted all the blends, and this is my third favorite, right behind Inns of Court and Blairgowrie (my favorite). The Devil's Own seems to feature more latakia than Inns of Court, though not as much as Blairgowrie—the components are well balanced, like everything else in the line, and it's a bit sweet, probably on account of the Virginias.
