Drucquer tins were never vacuum packed.

Alan S, I'm sorry if you don't find enough latakia presence in this one. There's actually quite a bit in the blend, but the relatively low percentage of oriental leaf can sometimes make it seem like there's less latakia than there is. These two tobac... Read More
cos work in harmony to sort of amplify each other. Levant might be more to your liking, as it contains both tobaccos in higher percentage. Trafalgar is one of my top faves of the range. It's got a wonderful balance, is complex enough to hold my interest throughout the bowl, and gentle enough that I don't get overwhelmed by "latakia tongue" after smoking even a fairly large bowl.
As far as the tins are concerned, Drucquer tins were never vacuum packed. Neither were Rattrays, the original Sobranies, or many other old blends. I learned to really appreciate the way the tobaccos age when packaged this way, and made the decision early on to carry that tradition forward both with my own brand, and with these. Read Less
English Excellence

Rarely have I come across a blend that is so good with no age whatsoever. I popped the tin, filled my pipe, and fell in love; no waiting, no wondering if it'd be better in a different pipe, no wishing for something more, just a great smoke. This is E... Read More
nglish-style pipe tobacco done right. I love this blend for it's fairly simplistic flavor—like a VA-Per with Latakia added. I've always had a thing for Turkish leaf, and there's just enough of it in this blend to make things interesting. The Latakia is balanced perfectly, and is neither over- nor underwhelming. Since buying a bunch of this, almost every time I get a craving for an English mixture, I reach for this. While the flavor profile is similar to G.L. Pease Piccadilly, it's markedly better on all fronts. Read Less

from the latakia. It’s hard to compare this to Blairgowrie because they are both among the best tobacco’s currently in production. Needless to say, I started off with aromatics but progressed to English blends. I find that the blends that have 4-5 tobaccos in them are more complex. This is a superb blend. I smoke this in a briar that I made myself and this one that I just recently tried but will be purchasing more. Amazing blend that’s complex yet simple and smooth. I wish a could give it a full 5 stars.

A Very Good English w/Limited Latakia
May 25, 2019
Product: Drucquer & Sons Trafalgar 100g

smoke... no harshness or bite & still produces a pretty good nicotine punch. It didn't produce as much flavor or sweetness as anticipated but at least the Latakia does not overwhelm & gives the other varietals a chance to attend the party & toward the end of the bowl, is not so notable. There is only a very slight sweetness in this mixture. I prefer the Balkan flavor far & above any English Blend I've ever smoked. This is a typical blend for those who prefer an English that is lighter on Latakia & might find this blend quite appealing, as did I. Read Less

rd the news of his decisive victory over the French. This Blend is bright and optimistic colour, that is match made to the exterior packaging. I have made mind that every time I begin to pack my pipe it seems instinctual to take notice of the brilliant aroma and feeling the feeling of warmth that emanates from the tin. Flavourful with a balance of light spice and subtle sweetness that accompanies the light Virginia's and Perique, The Latakia is perfectly balanced for my palette. The smoke is creamy and thick but doesn’t taste heavy, the flavour seems dull around the mid bowl as the room note peaks which is good to promote a break in thinking to converse with those near me, afterwards I find it hints more at the spicy flavouring from the perique towards the final third of my bowl. This Blend is a standard daily choice for me now. After 7ish bowls over a week and the slow breaking in of the new pipe accompanying it I can say that this is an excellent blend and worthy a dedicated pipe. I look forward to reviewing Blairgowrie soon.

f Vitamin L balanced by Virginias and Turkish tobacco. I love the tin note, which is rich and a bit spicy. The smoke itself lights nicely and burns clean. It does not bite, of course, except if you really push it. If you don't, you'll be rewarded with a really nice middle-English that I'd compare to GL Pease's Westminster, or maybe Piccadilly. I'll try it again at some point as it is really nice. But, honestly, it sits in competition with a LOT of other blends boasting a similar ingredient mix and taste profile.
