Upon my newfound love of dark fired kentucky, I found there seem to be few ribbon cuts in this style. It is easy to keep the bowl lit and flowing smoothly. Its not a punch you in the face blend it is simple and enjoyable virginia with that dfk in there as well. Sip and enjoy then taste the nuances that the ribbon cut alows. My tin has a bit of age in it, so the tin note reminds me of wine, ripe fruit, and fermented fruit.

The smoke is sweet, tangy, grassy; with notes of bread and sweet corn.

The DFK is applied lightly, it's barely there, but adds some body and depth.

Smokes cool and doesn't bite.

It is good if you like a lot of bright virignias, just alright if you prefer some more sweetness or desire an earthy flavor. The dark fired does well in this blend. Will revisit in a year.

I know he said a pinch of dark fired but there is literally just 3 or 4 wood chips of dark fired in this entire large tin. It wasn't mixed very well, but that might have just been bad luck. Even with the DFK broken up and mixed more thoroughly this blend is just not that interesting to me. I'm gonna give it some age and see what happens....Read More
