About This Pipe

Bill Shalosky started his career in pipe making repairs and doing restorations at Smokers' Haven in Columbus, Ohio, where he grew up and studied at Columbus College of Art & Design. He worked alongside Premal Chheda in Columbus, and later went on to join Briarworks with Todd Johnson and Pete Prevost. His background in fine arts gives him no shortage of influences, from the pipe makers he has encountered over the years to the techniques he learned in school in Columbus.

This bent Dublin of Bill's shows off his fine arts background with great flair. The bowl — true to the word "oversized" in this piece's title — is massive, nestling into the palm with ease and made even taller by an abundance of plateau topping the very muscular walls. Bill's work on the sandblast gives the piece a very intriguing touch as well, making this a piece you won't want to put down even when you're done smoking. The shank is also muscular and slightly upturned, then finished with a thin ring of mammoth at the junction before the lightly bent stem of brindled black and orange vulcanite takes over. It's a piece befitting a trained artist, appropriately enough, a fine work of Bill's that will satisfy anyone looking for a great piece of American pipe making.
