Citing "every pipe ever made" as his creative inspiration, Bill Shalosky is able to skillfully render a wide range of silhouettes. His portfolio ranges from shape-chart classics to unique Freehands, with this striking bent Dublin landing somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.

This is a fairly compact Dublin from Shalosky, measuring just under five inches in length. Despite its reserved size, however, this compact piece still exudes plenty of character, from its deeply craggy sandblast to its colorful, eye-catching stem. In terms of shaping, it's a well-balanced piece, with a forward-canted, broadly flaring bowl paired to a similarly flaring shank — both of which are topped with jagged plateau for a particularly rugged, organic look. This appearance is only furthered by the undulating, deeply sandblast ring grain throughout the stummel, which has been treated to a ruddy auburn stain as well. The warm tones of the stummel contrast strikingly with the stem's swirling hues of teal and khaki green, while the stem's shaping seamlessly pairs with that of the stummel as its saddled shoulders slant parallel to the flaring shank face. Though the stem almost has a pressure-fit look to it, it possesses a standard tenon and offers a comfortable clench, especially with the pipe's compact dimensions and light weight.
