Citing "every pipe ever made" as his creative inspiration, Bill Shalosky is able to skillfully render a wide range of silhouettes. His portfolio runs the gamut from shape-chart classics to unique Freehands, with this Volcano hewing closer to the former end of that spectrum — although it possesses plenty of flourishes that make it distinctly "Bill."

The entire composition is underscored by a smooth, graceful curve that steepens as it approaches the bowl's lifted heel. The walls of the bowl take on the Volcano's signature taper toward the rim, which takes on a concave curve as it overlooks a modestly sized chamber suited for quicker smokes. A sloping transition introduces the thick, semicircular shank, which offers plenty of space to comfortably drape a digit. The shank face wears a light, smooth finish, while the rest of the stummel wears a crisp auburn sandblast that renders the briar's handsome grain in vivid detail. Much like the stummel's grain, the brindled ripples of terracotta, khaki, and beige coalesce beautifully with the shaping of the stem, with short, concentric bands of color adorning the shoulders, and long, straight striations stretching toward the bit. From stem to rim, this pipe showcases excellent craftsmanship and inimitable style that fans of Shalosky are sure to appreciate.
