About This Pipe
Inspired by the works of Danish pipe makers, Chinese artisan Yang Kun began making pipes in 2012 following a long career in the film and television makeup industry. A discerning eye for good grain, an expressive and organic carving style, and a keen eye for proportions have propelled Yang Kun to international renown.
This bent Dublin from Yang Kun is a fluid and organic rendering of the classic shape. A soft curve cradles the stummel's underside from rim to shank face, offering a comfortable in-hand feel. Supple walls flare from the softened heel, following the path of flickering flame grain into the plateau-crowned rim. The rim has been treated quite beautifully, with some plateau peaks finished smooth and golden brown amid flowing black canyons. Out back, the shank curls up with a subtle taper into a stem base accented with honey-blonde masur birch. Together, the plateau peaks and the masur birch complement one another while offering a striking contrast to the stummel's black sandblast. With its cozy fit in the palm and versatile chamber depth, this is the kind of pipe you could hang out with in a variety of situations.
