About This Pipe

Henri Sørensen studied pipe making under Jens "Tao" Nielsen, Tom Eltang, and Lasse Skovgaard, and still takes a great amount of influence from these titans of Danish pipe making. A Dane himself, Henri originally worked as a glazier before turning to pipes, and has very much developed his own style that is complemented by his knowledge of the Danish school and its distinct traits.

For this bent Egg, Henri did an incredible job of finding the best flame grain possible to decorate the bowl. In tightly packed, uninterrupted, and almost perfectly parallel tendrils, the flame grain perfectly stretches up the walls of the bowl and the sides of the shank. Birdseye takes up residence at the top of the shank and on the rim of the bowl, all of it dressed in an eminently smooth finish from Henri that is irresistible to the touch and shines very brightly. The shank is lightly upturned and brief, yielding quickly to the gently bent vulcanite stem. The piece is close to Nosewarmer territory at about four and three-quarter inches, but has a substantial weight for its size and will be a welcome addition to the collection of any fan of Danish pipe making.
