About This Pipe
Henri Sørensen studied pipe making under Jens "Tao" Nielsen, Tom Eltang, and Lasse Skovgaard, and still takes a great amount of influence from these titans of Danish pipe making. A Dane himself, Henri originally worked as a glazier before turning to pipes, and has very much developed his own style that is complemented by his knowledge of the Danish school and its distinct traits.
This bent Egg of Henri's has plenty of visual intrigue beyond the shape alone — namely, the quadrilateral notches that dot the stummel, giving it a rich touch that combines well with the dark stain. The shape is straightforward for an egg, with the lightly inflated rim placed at the top of the "shell," and the bowl canted lightly forward. The shank is lightly upturned into a translucent stem of amber-colored acrylic, which bends lightly and tapers to a narrow bit. The texture Henri placed on the stummel makes this pipe stand out from other bent Eggs, but it's also the coloring and the way the amber stem flares outward from the dark stain of the stummel that makes this pipe one to enjoy over and over.
