About This Pipe
Scott Thile's self-described style can be summed up as "Danish neoclassics as interpreted by the North American greats." With his years of experience — some as an autodidact and some under the mentorship of Bruce Weaver and Todd Johnson — it's safe to say that Thile has carved out a space of his own among the North American greats.
This Bulldog from Thile is quite a handsome offering from the artisan, featuring a trim bowl paired to a sleek yet sizable shank, all dressed in a striking finish. From this Bulldog's trademark pair of beadlines and up, the stummel remains smooth, showing off tight curlicues of birdseye. Below the beadlines and along the shank, the stummel showcases dense waves of ring grain and blasted birdseye, both emphasized in crisp tactile detail. A rich chestnut stain also dresses the stummel, culminating in a timeless, elegant color palette when paired to the classic jet-black stem.
