Smooth Bulldog Tobacco Pipe

Antonio Lancellotti began making pipes in 2021 out of his workshop in Oppido Lucano, a small town in the province of Potenza in southern Italy. Antonio's style is inspired by the Danish school, as well as Italian marques such as Radice and Castello. Most of his work is done with Ligurian or Tuscan briar, and in addition to pipe smoking and making, Antonio's pursuits include music — he plays bass guitar in a band.

This Bulldog from Antonio features some gorgeous grain — tight, parallel flame grain below the beadlines of the bowl, some of which jumps the beadlines to mix with birdseye below the deflated rim, all of it finished smoothly so the eye and the fingers can appreciate it with ease. The diamond-shaped shank is coated with more birdseye and flame grain, leading to the vulcanite saddle stem to finish the piece. The stain gives the lighter grain a bright orange hue, allowing this piece to truly pop with visual appeal.
