About This Pipe
Chris Asteriou stands out in the world of pipe making due to his remarkable versatility. Each Asteriou pipe exemplifies superior craftsmanship, marked by precise engineering and meticulous attention to detail. Asteriou's designs draw from a range of influences, from classic Anglo-French classics to the unique Freehands of Danish pipe making. However, it's his clean line work, keen eye for proportions, and flawless engineering that make his work distinctly his own.
Leaning toward the classic side of Asteriou's portfolio, this Lovat remains faithful to the shape's defining features, pairing a Billiard bowl with an elongated round shank and abbreviated saddle stem. While traditional in composition, Asteriou lends the design a playful sense of proportion through its pencil-thin shank. The slender shank naturally guides the eye through the composition, appearing especially trim in profile beside the full-bodied bowl. The stummel is dressed in a deep sandblast that coaxes out stacked growth rings across the bowl's flanks while lending the pencil-thin shank an engaging texture of its own.
