Brazilian pipe maker Flávia Rodrigues breathes new life into classic pipe shapes, marrying bold expression with expert engineering. Inspired by nature, she often utilizes organic materials for her accents, especially those native to Brazil, such as Brazilian jabuticaba, horn, and precious metals. This Volcano, for example, features a striking pop of moreira wood, and it offers an elegant, nuanced take on the classic shape.

The bowl of this Volcano is far more stout and plump than other renditions, yet its soft curves are complicated by crisp ridgelines that flow continuously from the flanks of the shank into the bowl's lifted heel, lending the latter a rather comfortable presence in hand. With the bowl nestled effortlessly in the palm, one can admire the uniquely chamfered, concave rim, which tilts diagonally for an intriguing sense of dynamism. The flaring, semicircle shank is topped off by a mount made from moreira wood, whose dense grain and smooth, ochre finish make a fine complement to the stummel's own smooth, natural finish.
