Mastro Geppetto: Pipe of the Year 2022 Sabbiato with Silver Tobacco Pipe

As a subsidiary of the Ser Jacopo brand, Mastro Geppetto creates pipes of a similar playful nature, their shaping style falling in line with the Pesaro tradition of their forebear. In addition, Geppetto, too, makes a pipe of the year: a limited edition release comprising a single, unique shape across various finishes. This bent Billiard is their selection for 2022 and showcases a more subdued silhouette than many of the workshop's more playful renditions of the shape.

That being said, there is still a bit of neoclassical proportion exaggeration here, as the bowl's fullness of curve expands to a hearty degree that forms a low-set waistline and a slow taper to the rim. This plumpness contributes to a comfortable feel in hand, while the tight transition angles the shank for a comfortable feel when clenched. Said high-kicking reach of shank tapers to a domed silver fitment at the junction that marks the marriage of the stummel to a sinuously curved stem, providing a comfortable stance for jaw-hanging. A smoky, oak-hued sandblast dresses the stummel of this pipe, revealing handsome grain throughout its expanse, while the silver accent at the shank end provides rich color contrast.
