Sandblasted Acorn with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe

Tennessee-based artisan Micah Redmond is known for combining the compact, muscular shaping of American pipe making with the soft curves and flowing, organic lines of the Danish style. He's also been known to play with proportion, with many of his pipes featuring either dramatically long or extra-abbreviated shanks. This bent Acorn, for example, pairs a sizable, muscular bowl to a comparatively brief shank, which is accented with a band of boxwood and paired to a lovely emerald green stem.

Despite its curvaceous silhouette, the bowl of this Acorn remains quite tight-knit around the flanks, lending it an Opera-esque, oblong appearance when viewed from above. In profile, the bowl bulges out along the fore and aft, its walls curving as they rise to the jagged, plateau-crowned rim. The briar's plateau bolsters this pipe's distinctly organic appearance, which is only furthered by its gentle curves and earthy sandblast. Said sandblast is stained a warm, inviting hue with a reddish tinge that makes a handsome backdrop for the verdantly colored stem. Meanwhile, a band of boxwood at the junction adds a brief but impactful flash of unique tone and texture to the ensemble.
