About This Pipe
Wotjek Pastuch is a renowned Polish carver whose portfolio spans a wide range of shapes. While his pipes come in a variety of silhouettes, they all share an unmistakably Danish influence — likely the result of Pastuch's mentorship under Tom Eltang. With its clean, crisp sense of line combined with organic flourishes, this striking Dublin is an excellent representation of Pastuch's signature style.
The bowl of this Dublin flares so broadly, and features such a craggy crop of natural plateau along the rim, that it almost resembles a tulip — giving this pipe an inherently organic appearance right off the bat. The arrow-straight shank and stem offset some of this organicism, adding a touch of sleek rigidity to the form, but even the junction between the two has an organic appearance as the shank seems to envelop the tapered stem. Said stem is fashioned from cumberland, whose rich burgundy hue makes the perfect complement to the dark, smoky stain of the stummel. A craggy sandblast ties everything together, drawing out wave after wave of rippling ring grain for a truly mesmerizing effect.
