Lane Limited - HGL
Not for me, not bad tobacco
There’s some good stuff in there. I just can’t get past Latakia. I thought I might be ok with it in an aromatic blend, but no. Very mild and everything else seems fine. I gave it a 3 because it seems a very well put together blend. Without the Latakia I’d probably be singing praises.

Carter Hall - Carter Hall 14oz
Kept me smoking a pipe
It’s mild. It’s unremarkable. It doesn’t pop. But, it ain’t bad. Rather nice on occasion. I started pipe smoking in 1971. I was buying all the latest tobacco, driving 90 miles to look for something I liked. After a tin of Flying Dutchman, I was ready to quit. My dad walked in and tossed a pouch of Carter hall in my lap. He smoked it on weekends. He smoked Sir Walter Raleigh thru the week. Occasionally did a little half and half. I had liked the aroma. I couldn’t imagine a thoroughly modern man such as myself slumming like this. Well, I tried it. I soon liked it. It was my #1 smoke for years. I stumbled into a Tinderbox and added some aromatics to my lineup. I still like it 55 years later. And…..it’s never upset the ladies

Orlik - Golden Sliced 50g
First but not last
I’ve been pipe smoking since 1971, but I’ve never tried Orlik. Not sure why. I also have never left a tobacco review. However, I was so pleasantly surprised by this blend that I thought it was time. I ordered the 50g tin and opened it right away. I was impressed immediately. I’m not going to speak of flavor or aroma much. There’s lots of that in the reviews. If you’re looking to sample a Virgin/Perique blend or have just ignored this one, get a tin and try it out. My most favorable comment is probably that as soon as I finished the second bowlful, I immediately ordered the 100g tin.

Stands & Pouches - Leather Stand Up Tobacco Pouch Suede
Had to fight for it
When I first received this pouch, my wife wanted it to hold items inside her purse. I’ve used it some now and find it an ideal size and the accessory pocket is a plus. Great in a cargo pants pocket. One heck of a bargain

Tobacco Jars - PocketJar MAX Smokingpipes.com Orange
Practical
Very practical storage. I do a lot of quick trips and this jar is handy for that. A couple of bowls of tobacco in a secure container. Don’t have to worry about incorporating the contents back into your storage. This is my first of these, but I intend to get a couple more.

Stands & Pouches - Brigham Tobacco Pouch - Black
Fine accessory
This is a nice pouch. Good leather, not too large, good for town and country. Looks nice in the vest pocket. Money well spent

Tampers & Tools - 8deco Tamper - Penner
Best I own
I have everything from the $2 drugstore tampers to vintage ones my dad and granddad had. Pap’s sassafras root with brass button end. This is by far my favorite. Some say it’s a little large, and that may be, but it’s well made, easy for my arthritic fingers to hold, and certainly attractive. Get yourself one

  • ► Charatan Banker, mid 70’s walking thru mall in Tysons Corner, VA. Went back to that tobacco shop 3 days in a row until I had to walk out with it. I was working a job in the DC area and went to that mall to kill time on a weekend. Spent a weeks pay. Still worth it
