Unexpectedly robust but smooth VaOr

Usually VaOrs run a rather wide gamut. Flavors really very. More often than not the results are okay. Trending towards cigaretty. This one is really one of the best entries in this category have come across although I've not tried the McConnell blends. Doesn't matter what pipe I put it in it smokes rich. It's medium in body although you don't expect it from the first hit of the palate and then unfolds on the back end to really tasty tobacco. When I first smoked it my reaction was this is really good but... And now a few months later after jarring it I'm buying tins....Read More

Toast with grape jelly

This turned out to be a very interesting blend. Tin note it full of fruit, some fig and mostly grape. As I smoke it I can't help but picture a thick slice of toast slathered in a smear of grape jelly. Some slight perfume notes round out the flavor and a minor pepper hit to the tongue is keeping me interested. All I can say is its a great smoke for reasons i didnt expect. Really made me realize I had a complete misunderstanding of what oriental leaf brings to a blend. Can't wait to see how the rest of the tin smokes...Read More

This is not the typical VaPer. The Oriental adds a nice buttery incense notes when it is fresh but after just 2yrs of age the components of the blend have melded well. Also, it has developed a pleasant sweetness. The components are the same as Temple Bar, but they don't taste like same. I highly recommend getting Regent's Flake and Temple Bar and see how much the cut of a blend really affects the flavor....Read More

I enjoy Oriental based blends and always look for good ones. The sizzle and pop of the Orientals are muted to a nice spice over a sweet foundation. Best I can tell it has a stone fruit type sweetness. Flakes were slightly moist for my tastes but rubbed out softly and once lit the bowl ran well to the bottom. Milder than some other GLP oriental blends with a nice foundation of flavor. I did hear this is the old temple bar plug converted into a flake form and I must say the flake is better. Recommend to all enthusiasts and newcomers alike as the blend offers lots of flavor and is easy to get a good result from any pipe....Read More

Tin note of spices, stewed Rasins/figs, and mild lemon. Tobacco is a brown and black broken flake with a little tan, moisture content seems good to go. Burns is slow with a few extra relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and consistent and a little complex, with notes of herbal spices, wood, bread, floral, raisin, earth, moderately spicy, mild sweet grass, mild tangy lemon, mild tart plums, and a peppery retro. Virginias are barely leading with Orientals supporting. Perique is there, but on standby. Room note is pleasant, and aftertaste is excellent....Read More

If Elrond smoked a pipe (I believe he does), this would be the tobacco you find in it. Delicate yet strong, with just the right amount of sweetness... and a hint of cinnamon, rasin, and vanilla that blends nicely with the distinctness of the izmir. You must have the wisdom to go slow to truly enjoy, as burning hot will quickly degenerate into a forest fire.

My tin was about 1 yr old when received. Stored in the freezer to because I know how to read reviews and didn't want any mold issues :p.Filled with flakes that were a bit broken lengthwise, my best results were to just roll up a few and drop lengthwise into a pipe before tamping. This is a Fresh tin. about 2 months old. When I opened it I got the aroma of Virginias with inviting sweet-spicy notes. It was ready to smoke immediately after opening. It had a Fresh taste that was both Spicy and Sour. The Virginias were evident and the Orientals brought out the Spice. This Blend is Rich and Full Bodied with a fair amount of Nicotine. I love this blend in the evening with a bottle of lager. I'll just sit there, content. I can't quite place the scent, though it's reminding me of something specific. It is a very nice, light, unobtrusive scent that still maintains a really smooth, mellow depth. The flavor has a medium spiciness with a light tangy flavor to follow. Really good balance on the blend, even though the flakes don't like to stay together while being removed from the tin it isn't hard at all to get a consistent pack. ----
Update: I had smoked through a portion of my tin, jarred the remainder, and when I came back to it it had changed into a smooth, earthy masterpiece with notes of spice creeping through and building up as you reach the bottom of the pack with a light citrus after taste. So good!...Read More

The pleasant aroma when you open the tin makes you want to love this, and you will (if you fancy Virginia/Periques). It smokes very easily, so if you're newer to pipe smoking or generally impatient, you'll need to take it easy. I can't claim to be skilled at making a bowl last a good, long time, but Regent's Flake makes it easy. This is the first non-burley blend I've managed to smoke all the way through on one match.
