Finally got around to trying Mad Fiddler Flake, and man, this stuff is VERY good. Easily my favorite C&D blend I’ve tried so far, and that’s saying something considering how hit-or-miss C&D tends to be for me. The cut is a broken flake, kind of like Toscano Puccini, and the tin note reminds me a bit of Christmas cookies. The smoke itself is remarkably smooth, even fresh out of the tin. None of the harsh edges I’ve come to expect from a lot of C&D blends. Flavor-wise, it’s warm, spicy, and downright cozy. I’m getting clove and cinnamon, with a sort of cinnamon oatmeal thing going on. Maybe a little cardamom in there, too. Hard to put my finger on exactly, but it’s delicious. An absolutely perfect smoke for this time of year (October as of this review). And the more I puff on it, the more I like it. Didn’t even bother rubbing it out. This ones staying in constant heavy rotation. The cigar is there for sure but the VaPer and oriental leaf are right up front with it. I really enjoy this type of blend. It has the notes of dark fruits that is almost a wine like character. You get this earthy, savory note as well and just a hint of spice. It definitely is worth stocking up on. Looking forward to trying this blend with age on it.

I ordered this having high hopes and it didn't disappoint it actually was better than expected. The weird thing is I actually get some of the same notes as Carolina red flake which is a plus for me it's another favorite. I love how no particular tobacco is driving the bus so to speak you can easily pick out each one and they all mesh well together and complement one another. I have had best experience in a Peterson system 302 it's a perfect pipe for this. The notes of figs raisins dark and stone fruit are amazing. The cigar leaf pokes through more about half way through the bole and the cavendish compliments it perfectly the Virginia perique is tasty all the way through. I could easily smoke this every day I find myself picking it first pipe lately with my coffee. Definitely a gem and I only wish it was offered in the larger tins. Cheers everyone...Read More
