The weirdest of the twists but extremely good.

can completely change the whole nature of how these ropes smoke. It was definitely topped but when I first lit it, it had no whisky taste at all, and I was going to rate it taste wise as having no detectable topping other than being a little bit sweet.
As I burned through the first third of the bowl the topping suddely was very present. I was not expecting that at all. It smelled much better in the room note tha the regular brown irish X also. It is slightly more dense, and has a definite sweetness. Towards the end of the bowl the topping was again undetectable but but it did not taste like the bowl was burning down as it does in the other ropes, it still tasted like a freshly lit bowl. This is magnitudes better than the older stuff and with age I can only imagine will get even better.
This has the effect of the topping increasing the felt nicotine (which is quite strong) like the cherry twist which either was a stronger few leaves from the top of the plant or, more likely, the topping prevents some of the nicotine from being burned off.
The smell to others is quite a bit more pleasant than the regular but still a bit strong.
This is an easy smooth smoke and I could taste the oak or maple sugars quite strongly - I think the topping is an extract or flavouring more than just being doused in actual whisky.
The change in taste working down the bowl is very strange and I haven't smoked anything quite like this.
