The first of Joe Lankford's many exquisite pipe tobacco blends, Seattle Pipe Club's Mississippi River is a rich English/Scottish mixture that has catalyzed an entire portfolio of cult classics. Mississippi River Special Reserve Flake enhances that original recipe with rare, matured condimental tobaccos and a beautiful flake cut. Tangy, whole-leaf Virginias are layered and pressed, then combined with Latakia, aged Turkish, and genuine St. James Perique, pressed again, and sliced into delicate flakes for easy preparation and greater aging potential. With the St. James leaf's fruity spice and the matured sun-cured tobacco's peppery nuance, Mississippi River Special Reserve Flake is the finest rendition of the original mixture to date — an exceptional treat for lovers of English and Scottish mixtures.

Seattle pipe club releases are like Christmas. The tobacco is a present that Nana knit you herself. It’s an amazing present . However she made you the same thing in a different color last Christmas, and on your birthday…and on Easter . It doesn’t matter to you though. You love it when Nana knits you things, but Nana’s a little senile, and you are pretty sure she is always drunk . You don’t care though , Nana knits the best stuff , even if it’s all pretty much a variation on the same thing. Uncle Bobby, on the other hand, he is getting really pissed about getting the same present from Nana . He punched uncle Dave in the face and is yelling about how Nana’s knitting was better before she started knitting the same thing over and over for more and more people . Uncle Bobby thinks that Nana is overextending her business model and using marketing to push her product rather then relying on quality and integrity... You just think that Nana makes a really good knit hat…Don’t be uncle Bobby....Read More

Tin note of smoky, vinegar and sour vegetation. Tobacco is a flake of marbled brown and dark brown. Moisture content is great. Flake rubs out fairly easy. Burns slow with a few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and very consistent, with notes of smoky, spices, fermented vinegary, toasted bread, floral, tart dark fruit, peaty herbal vegetation, wood, spicy, semi-sweet plums, savory, rich earthy, acidic, a creamy tangy citrus background note, and a peppery retro. Virginias are leading with Latakia, Oriental/Turkish and Perique supporting. Room note is tolerable to strong, and aftertaste is great....Read More
