Product: Cornell & Diehl Bijou 2oz
Cornell and Diehl’s catalog can get a bit overwhelming. But if I could only have one, Bijou would be it. The tin note is like stepping into an old world bakery. Lightly sweetened bread with dark dried fruit. The very well aged 2003 Virginia’s are rounded and mellow, and the Katerini is a perfect compliment. My only complaint is the availability, comes and goes so quickly. I wish I had the will power to cellar this blend as the recommended to for l0-15 years. Next time…...Read More
A bipolar blend , but in a good way

Product: Cornell & Diehl Bijou 2oz
I call it bipolar in a good way because sometimes it's virginia forward , and sometimes it's oriental forward. To me , that kind of variation is very pleasing. If you're Looking for huge plumes of smoke , this is not the blend for you. If you go at it like a steam engine , it will bite you nor do you have to baby sip it. Just smoke it with a moderate cadence , and you will be rewarded....Read More
Unbelievable blend

Product: Cornell & Diehl Bijou 2oz
Bijou is an absolute standout easily a 5-star blend in my book. From the first bowl, it delivers a rich, refined experience that feels both classic and special. Fresh out of the tin, the flavors are beautifully balanced: deep, slightly sweet Virginias with a subtle complexity that keeps you engaged the entire smoke. There’s a smoothness and elegance to it that makes it enjoyable right now, without needing any age to shine.

That said, what makes Bijou truly exciting is its potential. Even as good as it is fresh, you can tell it’s built for the long game. The depth is already there, but you just know time is going to round it out, deepen the sweetness, and bring even more complexity to the forefront.

Because of that, the rest of my tin is heading straight into the cellar. This is the kind of blend worth saving something to look forward to years down the road. When retirement comes, cracking this open again will be more than just a smoke…it’ll be a reward.

Let it age!

Product: Cornell & Diehl Bijou 2oz
Like others have said, it needs to age, and this blend for some reason ages very stubbornly.

Straight out of the tin it’s actually enjoyable. Very subtle and tastes kind of buttery to me. Still a just a bit boring.

After a couple years in the jar, it was still pretty boring but I n
oticed sugar crystals starting to form.

After a few months of opening the jar to check on it periodically, it finally started to develop that sweet raisin smell/taste from the aged virginias finally maturing. Way way more flavor than before and very enjoyable.

The tins says something like 10-15 years is ideal for this blend to sit, so that’s exactly what I’m doing with the other two tins I have.

All in all, it’s worth getting a few tins. It’s definitely unique and something different.

Can't believe I've not heard more about this blend.

Product: Cornell & Diehl Bijou 2oz
I tried it on a whim when I decided to get 2 tins of each blend in the cellar series. So glad I did and found this. It'll be in my regular rotation now. Honestly not sure how much it can improve with age, its that good fresh from a new tin!! It's sweet, smooth and mellow from the opening light with notes of hay, and brown sugar and a light, earthy note in the background. The honey casing adds a sweet touch to it. The Orientals don't show up til half way through and provide a nice spice to complement the sweet notes still there....Read More
