Now back in the day, I smoked a good bit of tobacco with Deer Tongue leaf. Frankly, I can't remember the last time I had it, and not sure why I stopped. I think tobacco companies found a cheaper substitute along the way and it just stopped being made... Read More

Product: Cornell & Diehl Engine #382 2oz
This delectable blend tastes of fruity perique combined with an herby vanilla from the deertongue which also provides a nice room note. This blend hits every category for me, well bodied, sweet, full of flavor, mellow, and an excellent tin note. This... Read More

This stuff is fantastic if you have been initiated. If you are familiar with the magical condiment leaf, you will love Engine #382. It is a bit more complex than might be called for as a first introduction, but if you are already acquainted with deer... Read More

The first bowl was ok but nothing special. The second was interesting and the third was wow. This is how tobacco tasted years ago. Difficult to describe the taste but you really should try it. I will order in bulk... just great!
Very nice

If they ever stop making my favorite, gentleman caller, this is a comparable substitute. Not quite as sweet as GC but close.

I have the classic "found my Gramps old Grabow" story of how I started smoking a pipe. His old pipe had a taste and smell that I could never find in any blend. After six years of pipe smoking I found it.....Deer Tounge! This blend is absolu... Read More

Great tin note. Warm and spicy, not as sweet as GC, could stand more Deer tongue, but not harsh. Changed my mind, going to be keeping it around, it's warm and spicy but not harsh and overwhelming. A great morning smoke.

Surprisingly burley forward

Product: Cornell & Diehl Engine #382 Bulk
All the other components together can't seem to balance the bitter unprocessed burley in this blend, which makes for a less than pleasant flavor experience. The aroma isn't as pleasant as New Market, either. Ah, well.

High on deer tongue! Burley is the engineer in this blend with the deer tongue and other tobaccos as passengers. Lighter deer tongue taste than the other CD blends but just as pleasant. Trouble ahead, lady in red!!

I bought this tobacco because it was listed as the Virginia Family Blends. However, when I smoked it, I could barely taste the sweetness of Virginias. This blend is heavy on Burley with a hint of Deertongue, Perique and Virginia. I could not detec... Read More

This has almost the same tin note and flavor profile as Crooner, but with the added body of the Virginias and Perique. It's smoother, a bit more flavorful and best of all, no bite. My first bowl I was like "Well, it's the same as Crooner." By my thir... Read More

I spent the majority with this one trying to figure out exactly what it smelled like. I came up with somewhere between "fresh field" and "old jacket". If a bright Virginia is the hay barn, then this is the field outside. After so... Read More

Deer tongue can be divisive, either you hate it or love. I have smoked a few bowls of #382 and there is just a hint of deer tongue to give this blend a pleasant smooth taste.

This wasn't bad I just am not crazy about it. The deertongue gives it a interesting twist but I will probably give away the rest of my sample purchase. it's just not for me.

I order 382 because i like crooner, and wonted to try another deer tobacco, and it was the right decision-this tobacco is excellent, different from other's tobaccos, nice for first morning smoking, and will be in my regular rotation...
