Tastes/smells great, you can freight train it if you like or take your time with it. It's my go to smoke and I never get bored with it. I think has more depth/nuanced flavor to it than Haunted Bookshop

Well, I tried this in one of my pipes that Burley typically shines in. It was just OK. Then I tried it in a slender-bore pipe and not much better. Burley definitely overshadows the others in this blend. But it, itself, isn't an outstanding Burley. Its flavor isn't consistent throughout the bowl. So I give it 3★ today for being a 'T' that is OK, but not likely to become one I would ever stock-up on. I'll most likely just finish it and then close the book on Pegasus. I might suggest others try the new Rivertown Tobacco Works - "Oak & Ember" over Pegasus. If seeking a mild yet tasty all-day "Burley forward" blend to pipe with. You'll save a few buck$, obviously, and I believe you'd get a bit more enjoyment out of it....Read More

There’s a website called Tobacco Reviews and if you track down Pegasus, Runowski talks at length about this blend…his creation. He goes so far as to suggest a deep narrow bowl as the ideal for smoking it. I’d tried it in the past with mixed feelings but after hearing what he had to say, I started all over. I grabbed a favorite Savinelli Spring 614 and loaded up using conventional packing technique and lit up…a charring light that I let die before a light swirling tamp and relight. I spent over an hour smoking it to the bottom and relit several times as I didn’t feel like hurrying through this delicious Burley blend. I concluded that I’d hit on the right combination and enjoyed several relights, each tastier than the last. I’ve been trying to find something that beat some old favorites like PA of which there are no substitutes…I’ve been a pipe smoker for over 50 years and have smoked more different blends than I can recall but always lean towards Burleys as I enjoy the depth of flavor and ease of smoking them…if you do it right, they don’t bite thus, Take your time…Pegasus showcases Runowskis knowledge of building a good blend and how to smoke it for best effect. A rich flavorful taste with depth and jus the right strength to satisfy. This is a wonderful, earthy burley. As someone who is fairly new to burleys, this is very approachable. There is a mild sweetness that is really enjoyable, and you really do get the good "bite" of burley tobacco. I smoked this in a cob, which allowed the leaf to shine through. This is not something I will buy or probably smoke again, albeit the quality of the tobacco is top notch. As a codger blend fan myself, this is pretty much that, but lacking in depth of flavor. Straight burley is super mild in taste and kind of absorbs whatever flavors are there and enhances them with a slight nutty and cocoa flavor (the mushrooms or tofu of the pipe tobacco world). The other tobaccos in this are Virginia and unsweetened black cavendish. So to me this tastes like a sweet Virginia blend with a cigarettish flavor floating around. The nice thing about codger blends is the addition of molasses and cocoa (and sometimes bourbon) toppings and/or casings that get enhanced by the natural burley flavor through the smoke. Sure, they are uncomplicated and simple, and some people look down on them. But, this is an even more uncomplicated and simple codger blend. Call it a non aromatic codger blend instead of the semi-aromatic nature of most of them. Taking away that aroma which adds to the natural tobacco flavors just seems wrong to me. This all comes down to my pallet, if you like this that's great, I won't compete with you over stockpiling this. But if you like Carter Hall, ready rubbed (match), PS41, and/or the likes this may not be for you as it's basically those minus the mild casings/toppings. I would say this is closer in flavor to PS41 which is great stuff. That's got all 3 ingredients (burley, VA, and black cav) with a minimal topping and/or casing and that along with the black cav really ties it all together and enhances those molasses and cocoa flavors....Read More

So this is an amazing blend, you definitely get the nuttiness and woodiness from the Burley, but it smokes softer and smoother than most other blends I've had. This is one of those that you can just sit there and puff away on all day if you wanted.
