1931 Flake honors the birth year of the second Erik Peter, grandson of the family patriarch, a larger than life person full of energy and excitement for his craft. Not exactly Capstan Blue but real close

The 5 star and 4 star reviews already given already given say it all. I see a slight difference between this virginia and Capstan but for the price difference I can't say which I prefer. This virginia perhaps is a bit more citrus slightly more orange peel in flavor but slightly less sweet notes than Capstan Blue. This virginia takes more effort to keep lit but relights don't bother me if the taste is great and this flake has the great taste of a top quality virginia. Maybe I should give it a 5 star it's a close call. But all this said I love it and for the price it is hard to beat: I will be buying more for sure....Read More

I thought they were exaggerating but it really does taste like Capstan in my opinion. The smell is slightly different, a bit floral, but the smoke is virtually indistinguishable, just as smooth and enjoyable and at a fraction of the price. One of my new favorites. Stocking up heavy. 
On a side note, the 3.5oz tin I had of this seemed like a completely different product/blend. The taste, smell, and appearance are all different than the 1.76oz tin for some reason. Nic hit is a notch higher too. Maybe it’s just me and I got an odd batch but because of this I stocked up on the 1.76oz tins only....Read More

The Virginias offer a little grass, some tart and tangy citrus and a small acidic note. The burleys are naturally sweet with a little wood, earth and some nuttiness, and stands out over the Virginias. The black cavendish is a very minor player, adding a small mild sugariness. This 4th Generation Flake is my first time trying this brand and blend of tobacco. It's an excellent smooth smoke. Not too strong with nicotine. Has that natural Virginia sweetness, the Burley and Black Cavendish round out the blend. Tin note of honey, floral and nutty. Tobacco is mostly broken flake of marbled reddish brown, dark brown. Moisture content is great. Rubs out with a little effort. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild. Flavoring is mild, with notes of Honey. Easily distinguishable in the beginning but faded quickly and was hard to distinguish after the first 1/3. Taste is medium and very consistent, with notes of mild honey, nuts, wood, earth, bitter, spice, floral, toast, peaty vegetation, molasses, orange peel/zest, sugar, savory, tangy dry dark fruit, tart citrus, acidic, spicy, a lemon grass background note, and a peppery retro. Burley is leading with Virginia supporting. Cavendish and Flavoring supported from the rear. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More
