rley and red Virginia with just a splash of Perique. Triple Play uses the same configuration, but with dark-fired Kentucky. The real difference is the tanginess of Triple Play, while Burley Flake #1 has not. While I don't particularly care for this tangy taste, by focusing on the other aspects of the blend, it turns out to be a very enjoyable and burley blend for me, with a very similar profile to my favorite C&D blend.
When you are a one-blend (or so) smoker, it is very important to try to find alternatives, just in case. Market fluctuations in availability is a constant concern, which in this case is mitigated.
Being savory, medium-strong, with a fair amount of vitamin-N, it is surely a great blend, standing on par with other great Burley "pillars" readily found in the market. It leaves a sweet and delicate flavor in the mouth, and it is the type of blend that once you finished a bowl, you soon enough will be thinking when should you smoke another! Read Less

so I can smoke cake wherever I go and not assault the table of my host. I find Triple Play typical of the Pease cakes I've smoked, which is to say very firm. After I cut a length off the cake I crumble it to the best of my ability before packing, so I've had no smoking issues--it burns nicely. Now flavor--I'm glad there are several opinions here because they simply don't agree with each other and you are going to have to decide which smoker shares a similar palate with you. If you take the advice of someone with a rather different palate (and he hasn't said what his palate prefers), you may regret it. I'll just tell you that I like Virginia-Perique blends a lot, and the addition of dark-fired Kentucky, which makes the blends stronger, is right up my alley (strong flavors). I also smoke a lot of Balkan blends that use small to large amounts of Latakia, so my palate is one that really prefers heavy flavor. I also smoke straight Virginias for the more subtle but amazing flavors they offer, but I've learned to sip a Virginia so I avoid hot pipes and a burned mouth. I smoke essentially no aromatics because the casing on many adds moisture and stickiness, but primarily because I don't like the flavor and "sugariness" that comes from the topping on most aromatics and causes mouth burn. That should ID my palate enough so that when I say TRIPLE PLAY is a wonderful tobacco you can decide if you'll like it or not. The Perique and the dark-fired Kentucky go very well together as neither is too much nor over-powers the other. The Virginias even make themselves known, but no denying it, this is a strong VA-PER plus DFK. Nothing really like a heavy Latakia, but strong flavor in its own right. So good! A little more going for it than Jackknife plug, the perique adds an extra dimension, a little spicier than Jackknife plug, close to Haddos Delight, which would kick it up a notch, but if you want to turn it up full blast, try Sixpence!

다크파이어드와 페릭,그리고 버지니아의 조합이 아주적잘하다. 묵직함의 다크파이어드가 무겁게느끼지않는다. 그리고 버지니아의 단맛이 너무과할까 페릭을 조합해서인지 아주 잘만든 비빔밥을 먹는것같다. 플러그형태보다는 강한케익에 가깝다. 자르기좋고 재워서 불도잘붙어 즐기기 아주좋다.
데일리연초라해도 괜찮다 생각한다.

일단 초보자나 공복시에는 추천안한다 나코틴펀치가 나도모르게 슥~하고 온다 나는 펀치가 오기전에 전조증상이있다. 시원하지않은 하품이 나오기시작한다. 조금펴봤다는 나도 오는데 조심들하라. 하지만 처음에는 살짝달큰한 버지니아의단맛이 곧온다. 전체적으로 불이다붙으니 듸따라오는 끈적한질감의맛이느껴진다.

This is a very nice and well balanced blend. The Perique, Virginias, and Dark Fired Kentuckys all work beautifully together. Its sweet, smooth, and easy smoking with no bite.

I get pepper, bread, that GL pease tar note, and a kind of cheesy note similar to a cheddar roll or something similar. If you like perique this one is definitely for you. ght. Bit hard to light, but it was worth the effort. Had to relight a few times. All in all it was a enjoyable smoke. This tobacco is kinda strong. I do not recommend smoking this on a empty stomach. I will probably go well with a good cup of coffee. I had a coke. If you don't mind fiddling around with plug tobacco, and like vapors you will like this tobacco. I would not recommend this to a new pipe smower as a first tobacco, but for a more seasoned smoker yes . In closing all I can say is try this tobacco you will like it. Read Less

This is one of my go to smokes. Takes a bit of fiddling to get apart and comes just moist enough. Packs easy with large strips of tobaccos and requires a few relights. This is an amazing smoke and quite potent.

Knife Plug have, Triple Play seems to forego the uniform "sandwiching" in detectable constituents. From the eye, it seems that all the layers are equally spread out and cannot tell where each one is hiding.
Palate: Like Jack Knife Plug, this blend has a savory aroma or BBQ sauce, ketchup, pig roast, charred ribs. I do detect a more spicy scent due to the perique added and seems a bit more heavy in the smokiness. It's a complex blend and at times where I want to taste the dark fired burley and sweet reds, I'm overwhelmed by the perique, which sometimes overtakes the whole experience. It's spicy taste with a little sweetness that comes up here and there. I hardly detect the bright Virginias added. Not an all day blend, but can be smoked a few times in the day.
Performance: I also cut this blend into a fine shag as it releases all the flavors at once. Burns at a more than moderate pace with this method, but I prefer it this way. Medium to strong nicotine hit, depending on your tolerance.
Conclusion: I really wanted to like Triple Play as much as I liked JKP, but the perique in this blend takes away from the Virginias and already somewhat spicy dark fired burley. It's a good blend, but I think it jumps around what it comes to tasting what you want to taste. I'll enjoy it from time to time, but I probably won't be buying any more tins after I finish the other tin I have in my cellar. It's taken me more than a year to finish even half the plug. I haven't tried it fresh, but I could see this benefiting from age, just like JKP. Read Less

This was the second Pease plug I tried, the first being Jack knife. I have to say this one is much brighter and lighter on the palate while still packing a nice nic hit. I enjoyed it with a good Kentucky bourbon, neat, and after a bloody rare steak.
