Product: G. L. Pease Triple Play 2oz
There are great flavors here – burley tang, nuttiness, wood, subtle earth, spice, tomato, natural sweetness. Sip and retrohale to draw out the complexity. One of the best incorporations of DFK I've found. Strong, too!

Date on the container - 12/21 so this has been in my cellar for a couple of years.
First puff - Perique announces its presence with no question. Followed by full bodied mellow mouth with peppery overtones.
As a morning pipe it needs good strong coffee as a pair. Well worth the purchase....Read More

An excellent blend by GL Pease. Upon first opening the tin I found the tin note to be heavy on perique. My wife smelled it and said it smelled like a straight up foot. However upon smoking you are greeted with a lovely spicy aroma. I get similar notes when I smoke Haunted bookshop, although in HB the burley seems to be much more foreword. I get pepper, bread, that GL pease tar note, and a kind of cheesy note similar to a cheddar roll or something similar. If you like perique this one is definitely for you. Overall I really enjoy this blend but more of an occasional smoke for me and if you like perique Id recommend picking some up to try....Read More

Tin note of spices, rasins, and stewed fruit. Tobacco plug is marbled brown, orange-brown, yellow-brown and a little black. Plug needs cut thin with a razor and dried a little bit. Burns slow with many relights. The strength is medium to strong and nic is medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and mostly consistent, with notes of mildly tangy fruit, spiced bread, lemon grass, very earthy, floral, dry wood, bitter nuts, mildly spicy, and a peppery retro. Virginias is leading with Kentucky and perique providing support. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More

This is a fine quality tobacco that improves with age. I know many feel burley blends are best smoked young, but I’ve had this cellared for about three years and it has mellowed tremendously. The perique is present, the VA’s are sweet, and the burley presents as nutty but not harsh. I liked it fresh, but with age it has become stellar....Read More

I struggle to prepare but it is worth the trouble. This blender has the master touch with all fire cured tobacco it seems. The dfk is just right. It is there but the virginias and perique lead with a more pronounced dfk but it never over powers, Good but would give more instant satifaction if it was ready rubbed....Read More

Took advantage of the recent sale of G.L. Pease products. My criteria was the selections that have four star levels in strength. Ordered most of the blends that have that rating and so far Triple Play wins the game. Not the easiest blend to prep for long smoke but worth the effort. Paired with a couple of espressos my magnum sized free form delivered the goods and has become a favorite by a wide margin. What a great way to start a cold Saturday morning. A five out of five in my opinion....Read More

First of all, Triple Play isn’t very good fresh. Bland, in my opinion. But I just popped open a 10 year old tin, and what a difference! This one is definitely worth stocking up on, but only if you’re patient enough to wait a few years. But trust me: it’s worth it!
Very good, but a bit strong

This is my first impression of this blend. Just tried this for the first time yesterday. Bought this tobacco because I was interested in plug tobaccos. Popped the tin nice tin aroma. Cut a few slices. Rubbed them out. I didn't pack this tobacco tight. Bit hard to light, but it was worth the effort. Had to relight a few times. All in all it was a enjoyable smoke. This tobacco is kinda strong. I do not recommend smoking this on a empty stomach. I will probably go well with a good cup of coffee. I had a coke. If you don't mind fiddling around with plug tobacco, and like vapors you will like this tobacco. I would not recommend this to a new pipe smower as a first tobacco, but for a more seasoned smoker yes . In closing all I can say is try this tobacco you will like it....Read More
