If you're looking for something that's not especially memorable but also won't disappoint you, this is it. Why you'd be looking for such a thing, however, none could say.
good to go.

Product: Lane Limited 125th Anniversary Bulk
Tin note of sugar, raisins and fresh hay. Tobacco is a ribbon and coarse cut of tan, brown and dark brown. Moisture content is good. Some pipe smokers will want to dry it out a bit. Burns moderate with a few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and moderately consistent, with notes of tangy dark dried fruit, sugar, spices, floral, fermented sour, sweet hay, figs, wood, earth, bready, savory sweet, tart and tangy citrus, mildly creamy, mildly spicy, a lemon grass background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Perique supporting. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More

Product: Lane Limited 125th Anniversary Bulk
[Tin/bag - Little orangey citrus, slight creaminess as in "creame soda." Great moisture - ready to smoke.]

Little citrus, some slightly burned crispy marshmellow, little woody. Little of that faint oranginess, same as detected in the tin. Brown dried grass, maybe some oats slightly. Not a
ny of the hay/grassiness. Earthiness, little bit of cork on the retro. Fairly mild and "dry" or "plain dirt" tasting.

2nd bowl - Little of the yellow hay

Burns excellent down to grey ash with few to no relights on an easy cadence. No moisture, No bites. Flavor consistent throughout.

3rd bowl - more woody and slightly bitter spot upon light. Lots of bland mild dirt/brown dry grass, but with some special nuances of creaminess and orangey citrus here and there, keeps it interesting, though this last bowl confirms I won't be buying again. Having had some Stokkebye LNF last night, this is really left wanting by comparison, and I really am dissatisfied with it this morning. Will try again with age in a couple years, but moving the rating down today. It still could be useful for "blanding" something out too. ◄5/10✠Skulls►

Nice mellow VaPer

Product: Lane Limited 125th Anniversary Bulk
You can easily see why Lane went with this for their 125th Anniversary. It is a fine smoke. To be honest, I think it is nice departure from their usual faire, which leans heavily toward aromatics (though nice ones). The blend is nice an mellow, and it smokes slowly to a fine gray-white ash. The golden virginias smelled great in the bag, and the room note was nice. There was a subtle spiciness in the retro-hale. This is definitely a keeper....Read More
Great for what it is

Product: Lane Limited 125th Anniversary Bulk
I bought a bulk bag of this while smokingpipes was running a 20% off sale, having never tried the blend before. My theory was that it's Virginia based, so at worst it would store well for a long time and hopefully age well. I was a bit nervous given that Lane's primary products are goopy aromatics which don't dry out even if you leave them in a ziplock for a year - this is not at all similar. I don't think there's any PG in this blend - it came at a perfect smoking moisture, stays lit well, and all in all is a good quality tobacco. Fresh, it has the sweet, grassy, floral virginias and just the slightest bit of perique spice. There's a tiny bit of nippiness, but certainly nothing unmanageable. The leaf is good quality, and the tin note is a subtle sweet "springtime" scent. The nicotine is mild to moderate - present but not overpowering. All in all, I think Lane hit what I suspect they were going for - a solid but unremarkable VaPer for B&M retailers to rebrand as their own. Inoffensive, accessable, and a great price to quality ratio. Perfect for guys like me who are working on stocking up enough of a cellar that we will always have something enjoyable to smoke. By analogy, it's not a grand cru, but instead a Cabernet that is affordable enough to stock a cellar with to ensure you'll always have a nice aged bottle to go with dinner. I look forwards to seeing it evolve with age....Read More
