Medal of Valor, taking it's name from the highest award presented to Public Safety Officers in the United States, this Lane Limited blend combines a heavy presence of specially selected Latakia, accompanied by loose and cross cut Virginias, Burley, and hints of Oriental and Perique.

I like strong Latakia blends, but this one has something in it with a nasty dry bitter taste. Discarded it after 1/2 a bowl, and (for the 1st time out of over 50 blends tried) threw the bag away.

Bag note of Latakia, some sweetness also detected. I thought the sweetness was a topping but after smoking I don’t think that is the case. Smoky Latakia dominates but is kept in check by some well used orientals. Medium body, smokes well dry. Medal of Valor deserves a commendation of its own. I was pleasantly surprised by this blend. I am not a burley fan, but I have come to find that some blends have mastered the blending. MOV is a prime example of using burley to add to the body of the blend to offset the bite of a Virginia without overpowering the flavor of the Virginia. The tin note (bag) was intoxicating. The room note is pleasant, and people often comment that smells nice. I usually smoke English blends, so this is noteworthy. It starts off sweet and almost immediately after, the latakia kicks in strong but not overwhelming. The sweetness lingers in the background through the whole smoke. Just when you think it can't get more complex the faint sting of perique begins to nip at the tip of your tongue. This adventure of a tobacco continues well after this cool, dry, and spicy mix is completely ashed in the bottom of the bowl. The smokey sweetness lingers on the pallate.
